Stopping And Removing Acne Scars

The problem with acne is that it is not just a difficult to problem to deal with at the time but it can also leave long last scars. Scars are a natural effect of damage to the skin but that doesn't make them any less difficult to deal with when you have them.

So what exactly causes acne scars? In simple terms acne scars are what are left behind of damage to the skin caused by spots. The reason that acne happens in the first place is the pores become filled with bacteria which then cause inflammation of the skin. Once this happens the body thinks it has sustained an injury and hence works to repair it. Unfortunately this can cause some scar tissue to build up at the site which then leads to permanent scars. Sometimes acne scars can also be made worse when people start to pick at them or try and pop them. Knowing how to get rid of acne scars isn't easy but there are methods.

The best way of treating acne scars is to get rid of acne in the first place! While this isn't easy it can help to not pick at acne spots and try and pop them. You should also not try home remedies such as tanning or eating less chocolate because they are not likely to work and could make things worse.

For example tanning only means that your acne will show up less, it doesn't actually get rid of spots. However laying in the sun also causes your skin to dry out and can cause other skin problems making the acne worse.

It is always a good idea to go and visit your doctor to see what can be done about your acne. Make sure that you allow all the acne scars you have heal completely naturally even if it is difficult to do. There are some acne products that your dermatologist may be able to recommend so you should talk to him or her too.

If you have acne scars and want to get rid of them then there are several options that your dermatologist will be able to guide you through. For example an effective but expensive method is laser acne scar removal. Other techniques such as microdermabrasion may also work in some cases on smaller regions of scars.

With acne and acne scars it's important that you always talk to your doctor before trying any treatment so that you know you won't make the situation worse by accident.
