By Edited Mar 17, 2016 0 1

There are so many people who would love to have friends and family stay over. They might have enjoyed a stay over at the homes of friends or family. It is now their turn to return the favor. How do you prepare to host your house guests without over stressing yourself? Are you afraid you will never get everything perfect before their arrival? Would you rather have them stay at a hotel nearby?

There is a lot you can do to make your house guests feel at home. There is a lot you can also do to reduce the stress and apprehension you might feel about receiving house guests. There is no need to be afraid of getting it all wrong. You need to remember they are coming to visit and spend some time with you. They will not be there to judge you. You need to bear in mind that people are mostly happy to spend time with friends and family. Here are a few tips you can follow that will help reduce the stress you might feel.

Help: If you have a spouse and children at home, you need to get them to help. There is no need to do it all alone when receiving house guests. You will not win a noble prize for killing yourself with stress. The more help you get, the easier you will be able to oversee your preparations and not forget essential things.

Simple: You need to keep it simple. Your friends and family know they will be coming to visit and stay as house guests. They are not expecting a 5 star all inclusive vacation in a luxury hotel. They are probably a little stress themselves. If you keep your preparation simple, you will be able to enjoy yourself and not worry about perfection. No matter how hard you try, there will be things you just cannot pre-empt. Simplicity will make your house guests also feel at ease. They will not feel guilty that you have gone through a lot of trouble just to receive them. If they can get a clean place to stay and enough food to eat, you will make your house guests happy.

Food: You need to get ideas from busy mothers and cooking. You don't have to prepare and cook everything before you guests arrive. If they are friends, they might also enjoy cooking. They might surprise you and do most of the cooking. You don't have to be embarrassed about your house guests helping. That is also the part of the fun. If they want to cook, just relax and let them get their fill. They will be happy and you will be less stressed. You could also order take away. You are not there to impress your friends and family about how great your cooking is. If there is something to eat, you have already achieved your goal.

Games: If you are worried that your guest will get restless and will not know what to do, you can invent games to keep them busy. You don't have to spend money on games. You just have to be creative. Here are some games ideas you can try.
