Fitted wardrobes really help you to solve a lot of your design and storage dilemmas. If you live in an older home you probably don't have the luxury of a walk-in closet. You might have also just converted an attic bedroom into a master bedroom. Furthermore even with the expanse of space you just don't have closet storage. Fitted wardrobes are going to be very expensive because they are built-in and custom instead of a freestanding wardrobe. However, this really allows you to maximize your space from floor to ceiling. It's also important if you have angled ceilings, you can still get a lot of storage space with one of these items.

It's important to really get a higher-quality piece because this can even be the focal point of your entire room. This can be a lot larger than your dresser and it might even have more wood grain on it then your bed. This is why it's really important to go with an upgraded style that mimics traditional cabinetry.

One thing that you can do is really get a very traditional kind of look. This can use a lot of molding and you can just paint it white. White can be one of your best friends when it comes to working with fitted wardrobes even if you just want this look as part of a DIY fitted wardrobe project you can still make it work because it can focus in on woodworking and painting. You can always pick up stock molding at the hardware store and turn it into something really special.

If you want a fitted wardrobe with sliding doors then this is can be very modern. Initially this can seem very expensive but sometimes you can get pieces at stores like IKEA quite inexpensively. It can have frosted glass doors either with wood or metal frames. It can even have a frosted black glass look. In this case it will be very sleek and contemporary and since it is going to be the focal point it can actually be the focal point in a very good way. In fact most people won't even recognize it as being extra storage space.

You can also really make sure that your fitted wardrobes work within the style of your home. In this case you're going to want to make sure that you go with more of a Southwest kind of design that incorporates a lot of pine wood which will be a lot more expensive than your traditional pieces. This can just be a flat panel door. Even then you want to go with a lot of ironwork. Hinges are also really important as well. You could even get straps of leather to wrap around the knobs for a really rustic kind of look.

It's also important to really make this seem more like a display piece because it is such a huge part of your room. A great way to do that is to incorporate some open shelving. This can be a place where you display some of your designer shoes. You can add in lighting. You can hang artwork. Just make sure that you don't give away too much of your storage space but this is really going to make it a beautiful element in your room instead of just being functional.
