Success In Life

Goals Are A Road Map In Life

Success in life is something that is engraved in the minds of human beings.  It gives us a sense of accomplishment, and peace inside of our hearts and minds when achieved.  It seems like success comes easy to some people, but is a hard road to find for others.  Is success easily achievable? It is if you create a road map first.  The road map is short-term and long-term goals that get you closer to your overall goal of success. Goals are the hard thing for people to set and keep, but are key to becoming successful. If goal setting is an area of struggle, like it was for me, find some help. I used a company called Eternicom to help me with the goal setting process.   In this discussion I would like to talk about the do nots when it comes to goal setting and achieving.

Do not set goals only to write them down in a book and forget about them.  Make sure you see your goals everyday, and make sure you are working towards them everyday.  There should not be a day that passes by that you should not look at what you are trying to meet.  I recommend holding a day to check your progress a week.  Also get people involved if you feel comfortable.  The more people that know what you are trying to achieve the better; I would recommend you to make sure you can trust these people though.  Some goals might be so personal, that you only want to let people you trust know about them, or in other words, do not over expose yourself to a point where you feel to uncomfortable.  If this happens you may be in danger of abandoning your goals.

Do not get discouraged when it feels like you are taking steps in the wrong direction from your overall goal.  Think of success as a long distanced race. Sprinting and giving everything you got at first will burn you out. Although sprinting at times is ok, do not forget to breathe. Take life one day at a time. Trust me, if you do that it will be a lot easier than always trying to look to the future. Live in the present.  Do not forget the future or the past, but live life in the present and that will lead to a bright future; this was one of the most important lessons I learned through Eternicom.
