Successful Dating During the Holidays

By | Dec 29, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 1

Avoid holiday dating pitfalls before they happen with these tips!

Number one rule, family and friends don't always mix with the dating scene during the holidays. Be careful about including him/her in your holiday activities. You also have to understand that you shouldn't always listen to what your family and friends say about your date either, your the one dating him/he, not them.

If you do decide to include your date in your holiday activities, be sure to introduce them to anyone that you talk to, explain how you are related/know them, and be sure to continually include your date in the conversation.

Because this is a gift giving season, you have to determine just how serious you are with your date. You don't want to get a lavish gift for someone, and them get uncomfortable because they think you are more serious than they are about the relationship. If you have been dating someone for a while, and you are confident and positive that your date feels the same, then feel free to get a most extravagant gift.

When it comes to actually going out on a date with your date, take advantage of winter-specific date ideas such as: ice skating, sleigh rides, sledding, or driving around to see christmas lights. Sharing time while doing a unique think raises dopamine in the brain, thus increasing the romance between you two. Holding hands also tells your brain to release oxcytocin, a feel good chemical!

When you are preparing to go on a date, be sure to call your date if you are running late, or just be on time. If you feel the winter blues effecting you, leave it at home, either don't let it effect your date or just wait to date until you feel better!!

Some practical tips: There is a difference between talking and bragging about yourself. Dress accordingly, no one likes to be seen with someone who isn't dressed appropriately. Most of all, the holidays are known for their many alcoholic beverages, so watch your intake and behavior if you drink!!
