more cautious with their lifestyles. However, not everyone has the time to hit the gym nor has the time to dance in front of a TV. Most people don’t know where to start.

If you want to lose weight but don’t know how to start, here are some tips to begin with:

Change Your Lifestyle

If you want permanent weight loss, you need to change your lifestyle. This means that you’re committed to living healthy and not just to eating healthy. You can start your weight loss, but your lifestyle and food choices are what will work in the long run.

Find a Support Group

Social support will help a lot. Seek out support from family and friends to get the encouragement you need.

Patience is the Key

Losing weight too fast can make you feel sluggish, drained and sick. You are actually losing water and muscle than fats when you lose weight so fast, thus it’s important to take your time, work hard and be patient.

Goals will Motivate You

Try focusing on long-term goals. When you feel frustrated and tempted, concentrate on the benefits you will reap from being healthier.

Track Your Progress

In tracking of your weight loss efforts, you’ll see the results which will help you stay motivated.

Part of successful weight management is exercise. It doesn’t just improve you physically; it also encourages you to continue the change in your lifestyle. If you don’t currently exercise and aren’t very active during the day, any increase in exercise or physical activity is good for you.

The following are tips for easy exercise:

  • Incorporate Exercise in Your Daily Routine - Even if you don’t have time to go to the gym, that doesn’t mean you can’t add physical activity to your day. Think about physical activity as a lifestyle choice rather than a single task. Look at your routine and think of ways to sneak in activities.
  • Slow and Sure - Exercise is not an all or nothing commitment. If you haven’t exercised before or you’ve tried an exercise program in the past and was unable to stick with it, it’s important to start slow. Once you get used to small activities, it is easy to progress to the next level.
  •  Be Consistent - Make your workouts habits. Exercise at the same time every day, if possible. Eventually, you’ll feel accustomed to exercising without feeling bad.
  • Socialize - Exercise can be a fun time to socialize with friends and family. Working out with others can help keep you motivated.

Although it may take a little longer to see the results, changing your lifestyle and having regular exercise schedule improves your chances of living longer and living healthier. Exercise is one of those rare things where the hype actually meets reality. Any amount of exercise is better than none. The more you get though, the better.

Remember to take it easy and start slow. The most important thing is your determination to achieve a better health.

I like your article. I started slow when I began making healthy changes. I lost weight very slowly, it took over a year to lose 20 pounds. Now I like working out and feel more motivated to eat right and keep my weight down. So I agree with the advice you gave in your article.

WOW - Congratulations Moina-Arcee!! Losing 20 pounds in a year is not only a healthy pace but really impressive. Yes, unfortunately, we are used to instant gratification nowadays and if we don't see the pounds shed right away we tend to give up and go back to our unhealthy habits which will obviously never work. You are a truly an inspiration - keep up the great work!! :)
