Sun Tanning Can Be Done Safely

By | Feb 23, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Many people have given up sun tanning at a beach because of all the controversy about it being so harmful to our health. It’s true that the longer you are exposed to the sun’s UV rays the more risky it is to get skin cancer, wrinkles, and burns. Because of this most tanners have chosen alternative ways to get bronze skin like sunless tanning lotions, tanning booths or tanning beds. These are all effective ways to get dark skin but they too have some side effects. One thing the sun can give you that these artificial tanners cannot is vitamin D.

In life almost anything can be harmful if done excessively.  As with sun bathing, doing some of these things on occasions can actually do you some good. All you need to do is take precaution. It can be done safely if you follow a few rules like don’t bask in the sun during the sun’s peak hours which is around noon. This is when the UV rays are most harmful.

You might have heard people complain about skin damages even though they used sunscreen lotions. Sunscreen creams are not only crucial but you have to make sure that you use the right amount of SPF and that you spread it all over repeatedly. Your lotion can fail you if you do not follow any of these rules.

People are so afraid of damaging their skin that they forget about how damaging the sun could be to our delicate eyes. To solve this problem all you would need a very good pair of sunglasses that have 100% UV protection. Keep your sunglasses on at all times even if you decide to snooze. You might think you are off the hook if your eyes are shut but that isn’t true. The harmful effects can go right through thin skin and do some damage.

Getting a sun tan at the beach or from your own outdoors at home does not necessarily have to be history. Go ahead and get that natural glow and vitamin D that is basically for free as long as you protect yourself. Remember that the time of day could mean everything. The best time to get out are morning hours and after 2 p.m. Your sunscreen is also your best friend which will allow you to bathe under the sun while it does its job protecting you. Lastly, if you forgot to pack your sunglasses then either make a u turn or cancel the session.
