Tablet PC Handwriting Recognition

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Having a tablet PC means that one works with a computer that has no keyboard and no mouse, but rather an LCD screen that is also a touch screen, plus a stylus. With a tablet, one has to use the pointer to do things on the portable PC. As one of the significant improvements in Windows XP, other than pen and touch input, the tablet PC handwriting recognition feature is now here. This key concept means that the user doesn’t need to be bothered by the hassle of converting his or her handwriting to text.

Tablet PCs are equipped with the capability to recognize even the difficult handwriting of any person. They can even distinguish the user’s natural freehand writing style which can be cursive or in print. The sophisticated multi-language tablet PC handwriting recognition software has already been included in the operating system of the Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition, and the Windows 2007.

One doesn’t need to study or research on what kind of handwriting to use for Tablet PCs in order to start handwriting on the tablet. Any stroke, line, shape, letters, words, or even drawing will be recognized. Working with this type of software enables users to write on the screen like it’s just a typical notebook or piece of paper. So, if the user feels like writing something, or wants to use his or her drawing or painting skills, then this will really make good outputs.

Other than recognizing the handwriting of tablet users, Windows 2007 has more features to offer consumers. The first one is the inline text recognition feature which basically becomes a powerful feature that doesn’t need studying. It recognizes inline texts and the text prediction also speeds up the input process to make note-taking faster. It even improved support for East Asian languages such as traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Korean characters and Japanese Hiragana and Katakana. There are also personalized custom dictionaries help recognize specialized vocabulary like medical and technical terms.

In line with that, it also has new correction gestures and options for users. In addition to those, there are also math input, easier web addresses, and a touch-optimized keyboard to make it one of the best designs. The math input recognizes handwritten math expressions and formulas, and integrates with other programs. All editions of Windows 7 have table functionality except for the Starter edition for beginners.

It is important to note that tablet screens are not touch-sensitive, but they respond to any Electromagnetic Resonance stylus or EMR pointer. This means that the user may rest his or her hand on the screen. Also, the user doesn’t need to worry that his or her work will become messed up if something or someone accidentally touched the screen. There's no need for the useless palm-rest space found on most laptops. Another point is that tablet screens are more accurate and responsive than any other touch screens. They are more improved because of the tablet PC handwriting recognition feature that allows greater functionality and ease of use.
