Tag Heuer Carrera - Strength and Precision Under Pressure

By Edited May 31, 2014 0 0

Thundering engines. Smoldering rubber. Passion for competition. Nerves of steel. These muses led to the birth of the TAG Heuer Carrera. The TAG Heuer Carrera is a collection of formidable timepieces conceived as a tribute to the legendary La Carrera Panamericana, one of the most famous competition events in auto racing history.

Every year, from 1950 to 1955, one hundred race drivers revved up their machines at the starting line in southern Mexico and battled each other to the finish line 2200 miles away to the border with Texas. The punishing race "track" traversed the entire length of the country, cutting through mountain ranges and historic cities. No wonder La Carrera Panamericana earned the reputation for being the most dangerous race of any type in the world.

TAG Heuer, the iconic Swiss architect of luxury sports watches, chronographs and professional sports timekeeping, rolled out the TAG Heuer Carrera in 1963 to preserve the spirit of the epic race. As well as honor the qualities of the men and women who dared to take on the seven-day hard driving rally: Strength under pressure. Boldness in the face of challenge. Endurance that outlast the ordeal. Precision amidst the chaos.

TAG Heuer Carrera timepieces are available in different models built on the same fundamental principle: a century and a half of pioneering innovation at the avant-garde of Swiss engineering and design.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph Tachymetre has a polished steel case and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass back. The bracelet comes with five rows of alternating steel finishes or 18K gold central link on the steel-gold version. The bracelet is also available with black perforated or brown rubber or calfskin strap. It has a black, silver, blue or brown dial with three counters for hours, minutes and small seconds. Luminescent diamond-set hands make it easy to read at a glance. The TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph Tachymetre is water-resistant to 100 meters.

TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre S Laptimer has sandblasted titanium grade II case and a scratch-resistant sapphire case back to house its exclusive and patented movement. It displays central hour, minute, and second hands. Its flyback chronograph is accurate to 1/100th of a second while its laptimer function has up to 20 laps indications. It comes with a 5-row alternate fine-brushed and polished steel bracelet or black perforated rubber strap embossed with "TAG Heuer."

Women have a choice between the TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic and the Quartz. Both embody strength without sacrificing grace and femininity. The two share a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glace, polished steel case and a 5-row alternate fine-brushed and polished steel bracelet with solid steel folding clasp and safety push buttons.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic comes with polished steel fixed bezel or polished steel fixed bezel set with 54 Top Wesselton diamonds for references. It is available in black opalin or white Mother-of-pearl diamond dial with spiral effect in exterior zone set with 13 Top Wesselton diamonds. The TAG Heuer Carrera Quartz has a diamond dial with 13 Top Wesselton diamonds. Its polished-finished hands have luminescent markers for easy legibility.

TAG Heuer Carrera timepieces may be famous for precision and durability. But their charisma comes from capturing the grit and the glory of La Carrera Panamericana, one of the greatest adventures in the world of car racing.
