Take up Black and White Photography Classes this Winter
Is there something you wanted to do but do not have the courage to do it? There are different ef="/Arts and Crafts">arts and crafts in this world that I always want to try but intimidation always sets me back. Though I have completed a short community course about sewing techniques this is only enhancement training to the skill that I already had. Even then a friend had to push me to enroll in that class and encourage me to try something new. As my friend and I were checking out what was being offered in the community education classes this winter, we found out that a class for black and white photography is available.
Capturing still images is one of the things that really interest me. Colored professional photographs never fail to capture my attention, but black and white photography always fascinates me. Taking photographs is not really my thing; I am not skilled nor knowledgeable so I never tried using black and white film. The details about the black and white photography class stated that focusing, lighting and film speed will be taught accordingly in the entire class. Indoor and outdoor photography is also included and every student is free to bring their own cameras or borrow one from the photography class. My friend is as interested as I am so we decide to enroll together.
My house is near the lake. The ducks on the water look fascinating and the waves when the wind is blowing look so serene, so many times these wonders inspired me take pictures of them. These are the things that I wouldn't like to miss but the lack of skills always held me back. We are asked to write a list of things we are interested in accomplishing as a starter for our crash course. Capturing the goodness of nature and specially the lake is included in my list. The class is awesome, not only do I learn about shadowing and distances but I also learnt about timing, an essential skill for a photographer. I am lucky I'm allowed to use the camera from the photography class. There are all sorts of cameras to choose from and it allowed me to experiment and find the camera I am most comfortable with. I was flattered when my instructor told me that I have an eye for what makes a good picture. I took a great photo of a pelican on the water on one of our field trips. It was cloudy that day and the sun was covered up, what a perfect time for a black and white picture! The picture came out so perfect because of the bright white color of the pelican which is highly emphasized against the gray water and cloudy sky. I enlarged that photo and put it up in our living room. I will never regret taking the black and white photography classes that winter. It is simply worth the time and effort.
