Every year around summer time millions of Americans plan their family vacations.  Most of them go to the same places each year because of their familiarity.  Some families try to find some place new and exciting to go.  Depending on what you are looking for there are some great places to take your family for summer vacation.   My family and I have actually visited two such places that you are sure to enjoy.  I can tell you from our experience; you will be pleased with either choice.

North and South Myrtle Beach-First thing that will get your attention of course is “The Beach.”  You will see beautiful water everywhere you look and you can walk for miles and never leave the beach.  The North side of Myrtle Beach is the quieter side.  Older kids can walk around to Main Street and find many activities as well as some happenings on the beach.  If you go into South Myrtle Beach you will find many attractions.  Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum, Haunted House, 4-D Theatre and Aquarium are right in the center of the Downtown area.  You can also enjoy Tanger Outlet in North Myrtle and Broadway at the Beach in South Myrtle Beach.  These outdoor shopping areas have every store that you can imagine and great restaurants for you to enjoy.  One of the best things about Myrtle Beach is the all you can buffet’s or Calabash’s and they are on just about every street in town.  The prices are reasonable and the food is great.  If you are looking for different food experiences try “Rioz.”  This is a Brazilian restaurant that serves about 15 different types of meat as well as a vegetable buffet.  If you turn your coaster on the blue side they keep bringing more meat, turn it over and they stop.  For the glutton in you; it’s great fun.  For more entertainment you can see Le Grand Cirque which is an amazing acrobatic show that once you see it, you will never forget it.  They also have the Dixie Stampede which is an entertaining rodeo and meal.  Your family will have the time of their lives.  For the romantic in you, those amazing sunrises and sunsets will keep you smiling and in love.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN-Want to get your country mountain fun started.  You should head up to Gatlinburg, Tn.  The first thing that will catch your eye is the beautiful mountains as you drive into town.  Great Smokey Mountain National Park will take your breath away as you take in its natural beauty.  Once you make it into town, go ahead and park the car.  No more driving is required for you to enjoy the festivities.  There are 100’s of Shops throughout this little town to enjoy.  Go to the Motion Ride Movie Theatre or the Ripley’s Mirror Maze.  They have a haunted house called “Mysterious Mountain,” but go as a family; this place will almost scare you to death.  And if amusement parks are what you are looking for Dolly Wood is only 13 miles away in Pigeon Forge.  Speaking of Pigeon Forge, the family fun is just beginning when you come around the bend from Gatlinburg and head into Pigeon Forge.  Wonder Works will make the kids cheer as they come upon this upside down structure.  This place has over 100 interactive activities for your family to enjoy.  There are numerous arcades, go cart tracks, and plenty of shows to entertain you.  You can choose between hotels, cabins or condos for your staying enjoyment.  When you are ready to eat, one of my favorite places is “The Alamo” in Gatlinburg, it’s the best steak you’ll ever have.  There is so much to do there; you will never have a dull moment.

Whether your idea of a family vacation is on a beach or in the mountains; there is something for every member of the family.  This should be a special time for your family to draw closer to each other so plan, pack and enjoy a great summer.
