Tax Debt Help

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |
Finding tax debt help can feel like an overwhelming chore, the hardest part is learning who you can trust, and after you figure that out it's actually quite easy. The reasons for you owing back taxes can vary, but the best sources for IRS tax debt help don't. It doesn't matter if you owe a few hundred bucks or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The most important thing is that you take action now. If you don't pay your tax debt as soon as possible, there are only going to be more fees, fines, penalties, and interest tacked on to it. The IRS wants as much money from you as they can possibly get, and are going to get it. You don't want to be on their bad side and see how much power the government really has. If they decide to, they can take everything you own away until they feel they've been paid back. As scary as it sounds, it's happened to people just like you and me, so finding IRS tax debt help soon is imperative.

Income Tax Debt Help

It might seem like you're walking into the lion's den, but the IRS has a ton of helpful information on getting out of tax debt right on their website. Keep in mind that all of the information is there, but it all reads like tax forms do and can be very difficult to understand, and their website is a pain in the ass to navigate. These things may be enough to aggravate you enough to stay away, but most of the tax debt help information you'll need is right there (as long as you can find it!).

A tip for navigating their website - Use Google instead of trying to use their navigation menus. If you want to jump to a different page, but can't find a link directly to it, search for it instead. This will save you a ton of time and headaches.

Another useful tool that the IRS has is on-staff volunteers. Again, you might be hesitant about asking the IRS directly for tax debt help, but that's what these people are there for. They aren't going to jack you around, their working to help with tax debt and sort out your situation with you.

IRS Tax Debt Settlement Help

If you're looking for tax debt settlement help, like Offer In Compromise, you're best off looking for a tax pro or tax attorney. These settlements can help you save a ton of money and will be worth every penny you spend on an attorney if you can qualify. Keep in mind that most people who apply for Offer In Compromise without help don't qualify. Your odds are greatly increased with a skilled tax attorney.

No tax attorney or tax pro can guarantee that you'll qualify for Offer In Compromise or any other reduced tax settlement. That decision lies with the IRS. It's going to be pretty difficult for even the most seasoned tax pro to prove that you've been going through financial hardship if you're making six or seven figures and just never paid your taxes.

When looking for help with your back taxes it is a good idea to talk with multiple tax companies. Many tax firms offer a free consultation in which they will analyze your tax situation and tell you what their plan of action would be and also provide you with a quote. It is also important to watch out for those companies that can make pennies on the dollar promises before they begin and also watch out for upfront retainer fees that are required.
