Teeth whitening costs can vary quite dramatically from one clinic to another depending upon various factors. Generally, the cost of teeth whitening can vary upon the area of the country you live in, type of whitening treatment you undergo, extend of the treatment required, the dentist's fees, the materials used and the aftercare service. As you can imagine, the more prestigious the clinic the more expensive the treatment will be. If a clinic is using the most up to date techniques with a high profile dentist then this will be reflected in the dentist teeth whitening cost.

Outlined below are the costs in ascending value (e.g. first value is the cheapest and last value is the most effective). Note also that the effect also follows this scale such that the first item is generally the least effective and the final one the most effective and longest lasting. As a rough guide, costs of teeth whitening in can range from £300 up to £1,000 or more. Prices for individual procedures are as follows:

  • Whitening tooth paste - 6 tubes cost about $4.
  • Whitening strips - $20. Crest whitening strips are one brand to look out for.
  • Self administered teeth whitening kits - $30-$40 standard mold provided, which may not necessarily fit to the mouth properly.
  • Supervised teeth whitening molds - $400+ where the dentist typically will create a mold which specifically fits your mouth.
  • Laser teeth whitening - $400+. In some cases, laser teeth whitening cost can be up to $1000.
  • Teeth veneers - $700 - $2000 per tooth.

Generally speaking, professional teeth whitening cost tends to increase with the number of in-office treatments required by the patient. Dental insurance does not typically cover the cost of the teeth whitening procedure. If you are looking for financial help then consider dental finance. Many clinics operate their own finance scheme whereby you take out a loan to pay for your treatment and then repay it on a monthly basis. You should check with your dentist about this.
