Teeth Whitening Problems - What You Can't Afford To Miss!

By | Oct 30, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Most people have heard of teeth whitening procedures by now. The media is completely saturated with advertisements for whiter teeth. Most manufacturers want you to believe that their product is going to give you the whitest smile ever in only 3 days by using their product. The truth is, in most cases it's going to take considerably longer to achieve whiter teeth. It can definitely be done, but it's never as quick and easy as the advertisements would have you believe. What results you are going to get also depends on the type of product that you are going to use, ofcourse.

Problems With Teeth Whitening

Now, about the topic of teeth whitening and problems. Before you buy into the hype, it's best to learn the truth about teeth whitening and the promises made in the ads you see every day. First, let's think about the type of products and services there are when it comes to bleaching your teeth.

The most harmless products you can buy are the whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes you see lying around your local super market every time you visit. These products promise to make your teeth whiter, but usually don't. Maybe by one or two shades, but the effect certainly isn't noticeable. Then there are the over the counter whitening kits. These are based on a hydrogen peroxide gel, an aggressive chemical used to whiten teeth effectively. It's the same gel that your dentist would use to bleach your teeth. And the dentist is the last available teeth whitening option you have if you don't want to do it yourself at home.

The problem with the toothpastes and the mouthwashes, is that they don't really give you any results. They don't contain any of the highly effective hydrogen peroxide. The upside is that these products are relatively harmless. But they're also relatively useless. The problem with whitening kits at home, is that it puts hydrogen peroxide in the hands of ordinary people who haven't had the training to use it responsibly. Hydrogen peroxide is very good at whitening teeth. But if used incorrectly, it can also damage your teeth beyond recovery. You're going to have more sensitive and more painful teeth if you're not careful. Going to a dentist is probably your safest option. This is a professional who will whiten your teeth fast and safe. The problem is that this is going to be reflected in the price as well. The dentist is by far the most expensive option at your disposal for bleaching your teeth.

It's a very personal choice. A choice that's going to depend on your individual requirements. Whichever option you choose, make sure you choose wisely.
