Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress 101

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

I have recently bought a Tempur-Pedic memory foam, Cloud model, Queen size, mattress and I am quite happy with it.
At the beginning I had to get used to it a little bit because I did not feel it as soft as my old spring mattress. It took me about a week to get completely used to it. When it is cold, the mattress is not so soft and it adapts to your body as long as it absorbs the heat of your body. It is quite expensive, but I think that it is worth what you pay for it because it is very comfortable. It costs $1,599. But you should also take into account that it comes with a good guarantee of 20 years.

If you live in a wet climate it is highly recommended that you use a slatted base for your memory foam mattress because this way the Tempur-Pedic memory foam will have a better air flow. One problem of the memory foam mattresses is that air cannot move through it as easily as through the spring mattresses. Old spring mattresses have only springs inside and therefore humidity disappears inside thanks to an easier air flow. If you have an old spring mattress at home it may have on its sides some little plastic pieces with holes so that the air can circulate through them.

Memory foam mattresses are made of a thick foam and therefore have a problem with humidity. They retain your sweat when you sleep. That is why they need a slatted base instead of a base with a solid top which would not allow the air flow to reach the mattress. If you do not want your memory foam mattress to lose its properties in the area where you sleep, it is a good idea that you rotate it ( for example, you can sleep for some time on the left side of it and then on the right side) or flip it over every six months (if the mattress allows you to sleep on both sides. Doing this you can keep the properties of the memory foam of your mattress longer.

You may be interested in purchasing a mattress with a layer of memory foam in the upper part of the mattress and a layer of a foam to give resistance in the lower part of the mattress if you live in places with a lot of humidity. This lower layer is usually designed in order that air can circulate better inside of it. This way you can keep your mattress hygienic longer and therefore make its life longer. The mattress I purchased comes with a cover you can easily remove for washing. It is very easy to remove it because it has two zippers.

One of its big advantages, especially if you live in a place with cold weather, is that the Tempur-Pedic memory foam retains very well the heat of your body and you sleep with a comfortable, warm sensation.
