Baltimore, Maryland Fun

If you are planning to visit Baltimore, Maryland you will find a wonderful, vibrant city filled with fun and exciting things to do. This is a city that has pride in itself, and it shows in the attractions that are scattered about the Inner Harbor. Here are just a few ideas of things to do while visiting.

1. The Baltimore Aquarium located at 501 E. Pratt St. the Inner Harbor. This is an exceptional facility that was opened on August 8, 1981. Visitors will find a Marine Mammal Pavilion, Dolphin Show, and a 4-D Immersion theater. Visitors will also find various exhibits, one of them is Animal Planet Australia, this exhibit has 50 plants indigenous to Australia, 35 foot waterfalls, and 1,800 Australian animals.

2. Maryland Science Center located at 601 Light Street, in the Inner Harbor. This center houses many different science exhibits, and IMAX Movie Theater, a planetarium, and many hands-on exhibits. Visitors will find dinosaur exhibit, a Blue Crab exhibit, and Your Body: The Inside Story. This building has many exhibits that are there all the time and some that are traveling.

3. Historic Ships in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, located at piers 1, 3, and five at the Inner Harbor. There visitors will find several historic ships that they can board (for a fee). A U.S. Navy tall ship from 1854, U.S. Coast Guard ships from the 1930’s, a Submarine from World War ll that did two patrols in Japan, and a Lighthouse that is free to visitors.

4. The World Trade Center: Top of the World located on 401 E. Pratt Street in the Inner Harbor. Here one will find a 360 degree bird’s eye view of the city on the observation deck. On the ground outside the building there is a memorial to the September 11, 2001 victims.

5. Port Discovery Children’s Museum, 35 Market Place, in the Inner Harbor. This was designed for children ages two to 10. Inside Port Discovery, children will find a three story jungle gym and other exciting activities for children.

6. Power Plant Live is located at 601 E. Pratt Street in the Inner Harbor. This is a huge entertainment complex with bars, clubs, art attractions, and restaurants. This place comes alive at night!

7. Ripley’s Believe it or Not, 301 Light Street, located at the Inner Harbor. Take notice of a two story green serpent coming out of the building, and inside find 500 oddities that Ripley is known for, a mirror maze, and a 4-D movie theater.

8. Inner Harbor Boat Tours, these are located at various places in the Inner Harbor. One will find that this is one of the best ways to experience Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Here one will find dinner cruises, and a pirate ship excursion.

9. Federal Hill Park is located at 300 Warren Ave. At the Inner Harbor. This is the former look out during the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Here one will see a dramatic view of Baltimore City.

10. Fort McHenry is located at 2400 Fort Ave about three miles from the Inner Harbor. This fort has spacious grounds that are free to walk around, but there is a fee for entering the fort. One can pay admission and enjoy a self guided tour of the fort, this is a beautiful National Park that is famous for Francis Scott Key and the Star Spangled Banner.

Great info! I just left the Fort Meade area not too long ago. I lived in Laurel. The best thing about that area is that there is anything you could want to do. Thumbs up.
