Termite Bonds

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

A termite bond or a termite protection contract is basically an agreement between you and the company that gets rid of your termites, it states what happens if they come back. Termite bonds are very important when you consider the damage that termites can do to your home. These tiny insects can build tunnels through all of the wood in your home and decrease the support of your homes foundation. If the infestation is not caught early on, you will have a major problem that can cause some homes to be completely rebuilt.

Termite BondFor anyone who is buying a new house, owns a home, or who is considering selling their home it is important to have knowledge about protecting your home against termites. Once you have a termite inspection and the infestation, if there is one, is taken care of then you are usually offered a termite bond by the company. The bond will usually include an annual fee and require an annual inspection for termites, but considering the amount of money they can do in damage, these termite bonds are a good option. Typically, a termite bond also guarantees that any new termite activity will be treated again at no charge.

There are two different types of termite protection contracts, or termite bonds; a re-treat only guarantee and a retreatment and repair guarantee. The retreat only guarantee obligates the termite company to retreat the area of the infestation, but the property owner is responsible for repairing the damage. The retreatment and repair guarantee requires the termite company to retreat the infestation and requires their insurance company to repair the damage to your home. Be sure to read the details in your contract and ask any questions you have before you sign it. The termite bond should never expire as long as you continue to pay the annual fee.

Termite bonds are a very important feature that most termite companies offer, to assure you that they will take care of all future infestations for a small fee. Termite inspections are an important part of the termite bond, because they help you catch the infestation before the damage is too far.
