Terrible Syndromes That Stop You From Making Money Online

By Edited Sep 25, 2016 1 1

There are many ways to make money online and there are even more opinions on what works and what does not. Over these past years I have come to learn a few things and even though they seem too obvious to even talk about, I am gonna write them down over here anyways.

The Terrible Syndromes Why You Don´t Make Money Online

The description of syndromes found on wikipedia is "A syndrome is the association of several clinically recognizable features, signs (observed by a physician), symptoms (reported by the patient), phenomena or characteristics that often occur together, so that the presence of one feature alerts the physician to the presence of the others. In recent decades, the term has been used outside medicine to refer to a combination of phenomena seen in association."

I am calling them syndromes because 99% of all people who are trying to make money online have probably suffered from them at one point or another.

The "Shiny Object Syndrome"

This is probably problem number one for almost everybody who is looking for ways to either earn some extra cash or wanting to make a full living online, especially when starting off. We all know of the success stories, there are people out there making thousands a month online and have been doing so for a long time.
These stories, even though very inspiring also create a little problem, when reading enough of them, one will start thinking everybody is made to make money online. True, every body could.

Reality though shows us that only a low percentage of all people setting out to make a living online really reach that point and I do believe that the Shiny Object Syndrome is part of that.

People instead of focussing on what really matters, creating content and backlinks, are looking for the easy way out. So they buy into all these beautiful stories of the carwasher kid next door who all of a sudden is making thousands of dollars each day, or the hamburger flopper who went from making $2.17 an hour flipping burgers to making all these crazy online sales, receiving check after check and is now paying his earlier chef to bring them to his bank because he is too busy sipping strawberry martini´s on some deserted isleland.

Well, you get the picture, we have all seen these crazy examples and of course, every one of these people is willing to share their secret for only 997 dollars.

So we click away the browers only to find another one opening offering the same deal for 327, last chance! And it goes on and one until in the end the whole secret to making money online, almost guarantueed to make you thousands in a few days is being sold for $47 and our Shiny Object Syndrome is screaming at us ... "Buy! Buy! Buyyyyyyyyy" and somewhere in the back of our head, we know we are again fooling ourselves, but another tiny voice whispers... "What if... what if I can really make thousands of dollars without lifting a finger.... heck, I don´t even like strawberry martinis but with that amount of money I can do whatever I want" ....

For the seller of the product because the buyer is yet again fooling himself, and yet again a step further away from earning an income online.

The "I Want It Now Syndrome"

In this day and age we live in, where everything goes fast, were people are being sued for serving hot coffee, where people no longer need to watch were they walk because they can blame somebody else for falling, where it seems it is no longer needed to think for yourself and where tomorrow is too late, we seem to have started feeling that all we want, we can have right now. Somehow kids have been taught to be entitled to everything. New clothes, new mobile phones, new cars, new whatever and the parents pay. I know this is changing because of the recent economy, but somehow we have grown used to "being entitled to" get whatever we want right now.

Well... making money online, even though it happens in the virtual world, is still work. It is a business. It is a long term business and as soon as we find out that all are efforts are not being paid for straight away, a lot of people start complaing, calling it all a scam and walk away, because somewhere in their lives they did not learn that in the case of wanting something, one would have to do what it takes to get there.

The "How Long Will it Take Syndrome"

This syndrome is the little brother (or sister, whatever rocks your boat) of the above mentioned syndrome. It is probably one of the most asked questions in all the make money online forums and almost always made by people who have written as much as a stunning 4 articles and feel they should be seeing results by now.

When you ask them whether they did their research on the keywords of the articles, they will respond with another question ... "what is a keyword?" and of course want you to explain it all. When you ask them whether they have built any link to the articles you already fear the answer, knowing that you will have to explain how to build links in detail.

I am saying this syndrome is closely related because many people feel that everybody should help them without having to find out things themselves. Of course, I would have loved to get all the answer on a little piece of paper myself and I wish I would have found TKA for example when I first started thinking of making money online, but that does not mean that people should not do their own research and read a few of the threads on certain forums before jumping in with questions that are already made a thousand times.

The "Information Addiction Syndrome"

This one is probably the trickiest one to deal with. In order to learn we need information, but as soon as one starts learning about making money online, it is easy to get addicted to all the information available. It is easy to fall in the trap of reading forums, reading blogs, reading all you can put your hand on in order to learn, because at one point or another you will have to put all the knowledge you acquire into action. And the more you get drawn into because of this syndrome, the less time you will have to actually get to work and be productive.

The "Needing to Find the Perfect Way Syndrome"

Last but sadly not least, this syndrome is what stops many people from being productive. It is closely related to procrastination and ties in nicely with insecurity. People seem to be afraid to work and figure out things and until they have it perfectly down, they just choose to do nothing. Well doing nothing does not get you anywhere and make no mistake about it, it is a matter of choice!

Want to make money online? Work, write content and link to it.
