Relax, Shop, Play, Unwind in Hill Country

Texas Hill Country is one of the most scenic areas in Texas, made up of over 25 counties and 55 cities. You'll never run out of things to do in Hill Country.  From shopping to playing golf,  or just sightseeing some of the many historic landmarks of Texas there's something for everyone to do. Perhaps this is whythe region known as Hill County is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the Lone Star State.

Bed and Breafast

Bullis House Inn Bed and Breakfast

This historic Texas landmark was built in 1909 for General John Lampham Bullis, a frontier Indian fighter who helped capture Gernonimo a Native American (Apache) leader.  The Bullis House located amoung other historic homes and landmarks that may be of interest during your stay. This Bed and Breakfast has been featured in several publications including Souther Living Magazine as well as the New York Times.  

The Inn at Craig Place

Located in San Antonio the Inn at Craig Place is a luxurious, bed and breakfast perfect for a romantic getaway. This bed and breakfast, which was built in 1891 is located in the historic Monte Vista district. Here you won't have to trek to the lobby for the standard contintential breakfast. Instead you'll be privy to a gourmet breakfast served to you in your room.

 

 

Shopping

Texas HIll country is one of the best places in Texas for shopping. This region houses two of the most popular outlet malls in the state. Each outlet mall boasts an impressive list of stores that are sure to get the attention of even the most disinterested shopper.

San Marcos Premium Outlets

Located just off of Interstate Highway 35, in San Marcus, TX this sprawling outlet mall is host to over 140 outlet stores. Some of the top names in fashion are located at San Marcus Premium Outlets, like Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Betsy Johnson, Gucci, Michael Kors and many more. Tanger Outlets

There's more great shopping to be done at Tanger Outlets also located in San Marcos on I-35. There's something for everyone at Tanger Outlets. From the American Eagle Outfitters outlet to the Zumiez outlet for skateboard enthusiasts. There are also fun attractions like Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas located nearby, as well as great hotels and restaurants.

 

Wineries

Thanks to the 20-odd wineries and vineyards in Texas Hill Country the state of Texas is the number 5 producer of wine the nation. Many of the Hill County wineries are located in Fredericksburg, TX. If you're a connoisseur of wine and you're traveling to Hill Country you'll want to take a scenic tour of one of the wineries located here and do a bit of wine sampling. Wine tasting tours are easy to come by in Hill Country but each one offers something different than the next.

Wine Road 290

Many of the wineries in Hill Country Texas are located in Fredericksburg, TX. An association of about 10 wineries make up what is known as Wine Road 290. This is a stretch of highway that features some of the most popular wineries in Texas. It has been said that the wine country in Texas' Hill Country rivals that of the wine country of Italy or France. The wine country here was named by Orbitz Travels as the "2nd most visited wine region in the US only behind Napa."
