Thailand beach parties

By Edited Jul 17, 2015 0 0

There are many reasons why Thailand is such an enduringly popular holiday destination for people from all over the world, not least its widespread party lifestyle. While cities like Bangkok can be great places to dance the night away, it's the islands of Southern Thailand that really attract travellers looking for a good time in great international company.

Thailand's islands are beautiful by day and exhilarating by night, offering everything you could hope for on your holidays - whether it's adventure activities and wildlife spotting, or just relaxing in the sun and socialising with friends old and new in the evening. Thai food is popular around the world, but the fun doesn't have to stop after you've eaten - especially when many of Thailand's beaches are top party destinations.

If you're looking for the biggest and loudest beach parties, head to the islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Phi Phi. The former is located off Southern Thailand's east coast, and nestled conveniently between the other large islands of Koh Tao and Koh Samui, which are great places to enjoy Thailand's stunning scenery and relaxing beaches. But it's Koh Phangan where the action happens, being famous worldwide for its Full Moon Parties.

These parties take place on Haad Rin beach, and if you're looking for buzzing nightlife there's no greater destination. Dance and drink with hundreds of revellers under the light of the full moon (the party atmosphere isn't dampened if the moon fails to show itself), or head to the island during other important phases of the lunar month to enjoy the equally enjoyable Half Moon and Black Moon parties - after all, you can't always time your Thailand holidays to suit the changes of the moon.

Further south, Koh Phi Phi is Thailand's other beach party capital, and well known for its natural beauty thanks to its appearances in films such as The Beach. After climbing to the viewpoint to watch the remarkable sun set, head back to the beaches to witness all manner of nocturnal entertainments, including fire jugglers and other fire performers. You can find plenty of free drink offers if you look around, before heading to the top nightlife venues to enjoy sets from world-renowned DJs.

If you aren't travelling to these islands during your Thailand holidays, you can still find great nightlife at other coastal destinations and islands around the country, including Pattaya and Phuket.
