The 3 Most Common Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

CHLAMYDIA


Chlamydia is an infection in the urinary and reproductive organs. It can also cause arthritis and horrible eye infections.
The symptoms of Chlamydia can be pain or a burning sensation during urination. A white/cloudy discharge and a feeling that one needs to urinate
constantly. For males the signs and symptoms are discharge from the penis, burning or pain when urinating, irritation, and tenderness. In women the signs and symptoms are discharge from vagina, burning or pain when urinating, anal or oral infections,abdominal pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding may be an indication that the infection has progressed to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Treatment is based on the prescription and use of the proper antibiotics depending on the strain of the ureaplasma. Doctors have to take a urine sample to determine what the cause is. Usually you are given your prescription before the doctor gets your results back. If left untreated, it many leave you with permanent complications.


HERPES


Herpes is a painful blister looking sores that appear on and inside the penis or vagina. It can also appear around the mouth. There is currently no cure, only medical treatment. Herpes sores go away but will most likely return. The average yearly flare up ranges from 4 - 7 times yearly. Flare ups can be prevented with proper medication. Herpes spreads by direct contact. It is highly contagious if there are open sores. The Herpes Virus enters the body through cuts, genital openings and mouth. The virus moves from one part of body to another when you touch the infected area.

Within 2-10 days after contact, painful blisters may appear on the contacted areas. Some symptoms may be swollen lymph glands, aching muscles, fever and headache. The blisters then dry up leaving painful sores. The blisters may return when the victim is under stress. Early treatment does give the best results. Even tho there is no cure there are different types of treatments. Best idea would be to see your doctor and seek his advice on what treatment would be the best. It's a good idea not to have sex when you have an out break and always make your future activity partners are aware of your herpes.


GENITAL WARTS (HPV)


HPV is another word for Genital warts. It is a viral infection that leads to growth of warts that appear on penis, vulva, vagina, cervix, in or around the anus or in throat. This STI is increasing rapidly amongst teenagers. Warts may be tiny and look like cauliflowers or just flat. This must must be treated immediatly before they spread. The virus is spread by oral, anal or vaginal sex with someone who has the HPV virus. Warts may appear a few weeks after contact or months or years later depending on the individual.

There may be no symptoms at first and that's why it is called a "silent" epidemic. One to three months after contact bumps may appear inside and outside the genitals or rectum. . It is Often painless but may cause irritation or become itchy. Warts may be treated with a solution, gel or ointment. The can either be frozen or burned off with a laser or with an electric needle.
If warts come back treatment must be repeated.


COMMON SENSE

Condoms may help protect you against sexual transmitted infections like the above. It is always a good idea to protect yourself. Consistent and proper use of latex condoms during sexual activity greatly reduces the likelihood of infection.
