Yep, they are probably just around the corner!

According to the number of selling units they have all over United States, the top 4 national coffee shop chains are Starbucks, Caribou, Tim Horton's and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. In accordance with the latest data, Starbucks has over 8,000 locations in the United States, Caribou Coffee - 322, Tim Horton's - 292 and last, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf with 213 locations.

This shows how gigantic Starbucks really is, especially if we take into consideration the fact that Seattle's Best, that has 160 locations in the United States, is actually a Starbuck's subsidiary. Other significant chains that didn't make it into the top four are Coffee Beanery, the already mentioned Seattle's Best, Port City Java, Tully's, Dunn Coffee, and Peet's - and the list could go on forever with the many regional retailers that are popping up everywhere.

It was 1971 when the first Starbucks opened its doors. Through this very first shop Starbucks gained notoriety by offering some of the world’s finest java, roasting the beans daily and then offering a unique environment for their customers. So, what is the corporate mission of Starbucks? Here it is: to inspire and nurture the human spirit, one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time. Nowadays, Starbucks has 15,000 selling units in 50 countries all over the world. As a true testament to Starbucks success they as a company have become the world's leading roaster of premium specialty java!

Caribou Coffee has grown to the point of having shops spread out amongst 15 states, primarily in the mid-west and eastern parts of the country. It was 1990 when Caribou Coffee first opened their doors for business. That makes them almost 21 years old and thus a key player in the retail coffee shop business. The folks at Caribou prefer not to talk about their mission as a corporation because they feel their true mission is to serve their loyal customers. Instead, the folks at Caribou prefer to focus on creating an extraordinary "experience that feeds the soul" for each of their customers.

Tim Horton's offers coffee and donuts in different locations all over United States and Canada, as well. The company opened their doors for business back in 1964 thus making them almost 48 years old as a retailer. Top quality java, a focus on customer service and offering daily fresh products that satisfy their loyal customers are the primary focus of this company.

With a focus on selling coffee products, premium coffee drinks and rare teas coffee bean and tea leaf is a family company that is growing and expanding to become a direct competitor with Starbucks. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was founded in 1963 - making the company almost fifty years old. The folks at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf take pride in providing all of their customers a destination and lifestyle quality experience each time they come to buy their java from them. The company also takes pride in serving the communities they do business in.

No matter which of the above mentioned chains serves your favorite coffee, there is one thing that all roasters and coffee fans have in common - passion. Whether Starbucks is your favorite retailer or Tim Horton's you cannot go wrong by visiting either of these  shops in your pursuit of the perfect cup of joe. I am fairly certain one of the above mentioned four coffee shop retailers will be just around the corner from your home or office. Now go savor that first sip of premium coffee you just ordered!
