To make sure that you avoid this common error, concentrate on your breathing and make sure that you get it right. You should exhale on your exertions and inhale on the relaxing part of the exercise.

Every move you make in Pilates should originate from your core - the muscles of your abs, hip flexors and lower back. This area will help you to stay stabilized and to avoid injuries. It will also ensure that you get a tight and toned mid section. A Pilates exercise machine can help with getting your centering right, because Pilates machines help you focus on getting your form right.

This next principal is all about proper muscle control. You should make sure that you use your muscles properly during your practice and that you never jerk your muscles around. Doing so will get you full marks for this principal. A great help for getting proper Pilates muscle control, is to get an instructional pilates video. Pilates videos are a great help, especially if you don't have Pilates instructor.

5. Precision

Getting this principal right will require some practice. Precision will not happen overnight, but it is one of the most important principals of proper Pilates practice. Try to get your movements precise and concise.
