The Advantages of Storing your Bicycle on the Wall

By | Apr 26, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

There are a number of storage solutions available for bicycles, but if you have a garage or large shed already then mounting your bicycles on the wall can be one of the best places for them. Other storage solutions for bicycles include sheds and ceiling mount systems. A bicycle storage shed will require additional space in your garden and a ceiling mounted storage solution requires that you to have high ceilings – typically 12 feet of greater. So you can see why if you already have some storage for outdoor equipment it makes sense to use this space in the most efficient way that you can.

Efficient use of Floor Space

Putting your bike on the wall will still allow you to use the floor space beneath it. So if you have a garage that you keep a car in then you could mount the bike above the height of the car so that you can still park your car in the garage.

Will Accommodate Different Bicycle

The type of wall racks for bicycles that come with individual brackets will accommodate a large number of bicycles because you will decide how far apart the brackets go. This means that you can mount children's bikes to the wall, ladies bikes, mountain bikes and road bikes. Wall mounted bicycle storage really is that flexible.

You can put Shelving Above

Another advantage of mounting your bicycle on the all is that if you mount it at waist height you can still put shelves on the wall to store all of your other kit. You can infact have a dedicated area in the garage just for your bicycle where you can keep all of your cycling parpahanalia together. This is always and efficient solution for making sure that you get out on your bike. With all of your cycling gear in one area you don't have to go hunting round your home.

Multi Purpose

If you go for a stronger bracket on the wall then you will find that you can actually carry out maintenance on your bike. With the bike at the correct height for you to work on it there is no chance of straining your back and pulling muscles. With both wheels allowed to rotate freely you can easily straighten buckled wheels, adjust breaks and align gears.

Multiply Bicycles

Some brackets that you can get have longer and stronger arms than others. This type of bracket is the perfect solution for multiple bicycle storage because if you arrange the bikes handlebar to saddle you can get up to three bicycles on one wall mount. This is a very efficient use of space.

From these five explanations you can hopefully see why storing your bike on the wall is one of the most flexible ways of storing your bicycle.
