We have known for a long time that fish is good for us. However, most of us don't consume very much fish in our daily diets, and even fewer of us consume fish with high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids. Research has shown that Omega 3 fatty acids have a lot of health benefits, however even if we wanted to it isn't safe to increase our intake of these health producing fatty acids because the fish they are found in are deep cold water fish that are contaminated with high levels of toxins including mercury. Therefore a safe alternative is to take fish oil supplements. In the process fish oil is removed from the fish, toxins are taken out, and the oil is then either flavored and packaged or put into a capsule form. These supplements have a lot of benefits and many feel that most of us should be taking them. With all sorts of health advantages, it is certainly worth looking at.

One of the leading claims made about fish oil supplements is the fact that it helps aid in general heart health. This is very true and research is showing more and more advantages. All in all, most of us would or do benefit from them. It is a good idea to talk to your doctor about taking a supplement, vitamin, or herbal treatment before you begin.
