The Benefits Of Owning A Blackberry And Why You Should Make The Switch

By Edited Oct 27, 2013 0 0

I can still remember the first time that my boss gave me a Blackberry back in 2003, it was a day that changed my digital life forever. Back then a Blackberry was something that was extremely rare and even though the technology, computing power and pretty looking color screen wasn't a part of that first Blackberry, it didn't take me very long to realize that I was never going to go back to owning a 'normal' cellphone ever again. I had been bitten by the Blackberry bug and still on one to this very day and even though I've tried a couple other smartphones along the way, none of them came even close to what my Blackberry can do for me.

If you are thinking about making the switch to a Blackberry and need a little bit more persuasion, then you've come to the right place. I'm going to list out a few of the main reasons why I initially fell in love with a Blackberry and why I still use one nearly 6 years later.

Give Your Productivity A Boost
The first main reason that I want to give for owning a Blackberry is the fact that it can give your productivity a boost by allowing you to stay on top of your emails and other online activities while you're away from your computer. By no means is a Blackberry going to replace your computer, but it is a great way to get by and keep up to date on all of your emails and other communication that is so important in your day-to-day life. Also, just this past year or so several cell phone providers have allowed people to tether a Blackberry to their laptop, which I have done for several months now with great results. It costs a little bit extra, but tethering a Blackberry to Verizon or any other mobile carrier can be super handy of you're ever somewhere that doesn't have free wifi.

Blackberry Loves Email (Especially Gmail)
When I had my first Blackberry it was built to do one thing really, really well -- email. A few years later I still feel that there is no better and easier way to manage your email while on the go than with the software that a Blackberry offers. It's text-based, it's fast and it doesn't try to do anything too fancy (although it does handle attachments easily), which makes it really easy to use and a very practical way to manage your email while on the road.

Just when I thought that the email couldn't get any better on the Blackberry they now have a few Google apps that make syncing up your events, emails and other alerts as easy as you could ever imaging. There's an app called Google Sync that wirelessly syncs all of your contacts and events between your Blackberry and your online accounts so that you're always on top of your schedule and information. This is just one Blackberry application that makes your life easier, but check the next section for other ones that you might want to check out.

Blackberry Applications Are Awesome
More and more cell phones are becoming less like phones and more like mini computers that just happen to be able to make phone calls. With the huge success of the iPhone and their app store, many of the other smart phones have decided to allow developers the ability to develop applications for their various models and Blackberry is no exception. With the launch of the the Blackberry App World Blackberry officially threw their hat into the ring with Apple and now have a great library full of both free Blackberry applications and applications that can be purchased for a small fee. Some of these applications are more for entertainment and others are more geared towards being productive, so no matter what you're looking for there are some great options to choose from.

It's Time For A Blackberry, Don't You Think?
There are a million other reasons I could give you for buying a Blackberry, but I'll let you find those out for yourself. But, hopefully after reading this you're at least thinking a little more about switching to a Crackberry, er.., I mean Blackberry and if you're not maybe you're destined to have a flip phone for the rest of your life. I guess it could be worse.
