What comes in must come out. When talking about the type of things that we allow our into our mind, the more positive thoughts that you put into your head, the more positive things will come out as a result. The opposite of this is true as well. When you spend too much time thinking about negative things like bad circumstances, lack of progress, etc., you will eventually have bad results as well. So let's look at some of the benefits of positive thinking and hopefully it will get you to consciously think more positive thoughts.

Since one of the things that everyone wants is happiness, it only makes sense that we should think happy thoughts. When you focus on things that are positive, you have a greater chance of feeling happy. Happiness is nothing but a feeling and the way you feel has a lot to do with what you focus on. If you walk around thinking about how you're so far away from your goals or all of your past failures or how your life isn't how you want it to be and nothing will ever change, it's going to make you feel pretty lousy. If on the other hand, you practice looking on the brighter side of things, you will start to feel better. When we feel better, we tend to do more things that will lead to more reasons for feeling even better.

If there is one thing that can help you connect with other people more, it is to be a positive person. Although misery likes company, once the misery is gone, the company is no longer wanted. Sure, talking about how your life is bad with someone who also talks about how their life is bad may create some sort of bond between you two but doing so will only cause you to feel negative and down about life. Overtime, this will have a pretty bad affect on the outcome of your life. When you start to think and talk more positively, you will begin to notice that people will respond more positively to you in return.

Another benefit of positive thinking is that it will help you achieve your goals. Let's face it, achieving our dreams is tough. There will be road blocks and obstacles that will often times make you want to quit. If you continue to think positive though, it will give you the inspiration and motivation to continue to fight for your goals even when it might seem hopeless. With the many benefits that positive thinking has, you'd be nuts not to start thinking more positively.
