Best Bars in Nassau County

The best bars aren't just in Manhattan - if you are unfamiliar with Nassau County in Long Island, you may be surprised to find that there are a number of cool bars to visit. From Long Beach and Rockville Centre, to Merrick and the north shore, there are a bunch of hip bars worth checking out.

The Vine Wine Bar (Merrick)

The  Vine Wine Bar is located at 2259 Merrick Rd., in Merrick, NY (yup, the hometown of Lindsay Lohan!). It's an upscale wine bar, however, as their slogan states, "Who said upscale has to mean pretentious?"

"The Vine-Wine Bar was created for you and me. To enjoy a good tasting glass of wine and fun times with friends, you don't need a sommelier - nor do you need someone to tell you what you like. You are your own sommelier! So step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Take a "Flight around the World", and enjoy the ultimate wine experience... with friends you'll never forget."

You can find most wines here. Check out their deal "The Flights," which allows you to try four different wines from different regions around the world. My favorite is  the Italian Flight ($27). It includes: (St. Michael Pinot Grigio 7001 • Botegga Pinot Grigio 4010 • Mazzani Blend 3119 • Luiano Chianti 2134).

Blackthorn's (Rockville Centre)

There are a ton of good bars in Rockville Centre (Churchills, McFadden's, Croxley's, to name a few). Blackthorn's, located at 49 North Village Avenue, is one of my favorites because of the large beer selection and the atmosphere. The bar is usually packed on the weekends and has a nice outdoor section.

Croxley's (Rockville Centre)

Croxley's makes the list because of their awesome wings specials (10 cent wings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.). They also probably have the best beer selection in all of Rockville Centre - over 52 beers, all across the world, many you've probably never heard of. They are awesome. I highly recommend the house brew, the Croxley Blonde Ale - goes great with the wings!

The Inn (Long Beach)

Great bar in Long Beach near the beach, 943 W. Beech street. Great live music all the time! The happy hours are awesome (Monday thru Friday from 4pm - 7pm, half priced drinks).  Taco Tuesday's are also incredible ($1 tacos and $4 Corona's) although it can be hard to find a seat because it is so packed. Either way, the Inn is a great place for a beer in the summer or on any night of the week.

Mulcahy's Pub (Wantagh)

Located at 3232 Railroad Ave., right off the LIRR. A great place for concerts and drink specials. Pretty large venue that usually packs out. Specials are pretty good - Friday's are "tappy hour" from 3-8 p.m., 2 for 1 taps and appetizers and live bands at 9 p.m. Another is Beer Pong, every Wednesday night. "$20 per team cash prizes! $6 Pitchers of Bud Light $3 Pinnacle Mixed Drinks 25 Cent Wings Kitchen open all night!"

Dizzy Lizard's Salon (Hempstead)

There are lots of bars near Hofstra University in Hempstead/Uniondale. Dizzy's typically has a younger crowd, but usually has cool events like special celebrity appearances (not anyone really famous, though). The bar can get pretty crazy at times - this is a place more for college students, and less for the older crowd.

These are just a few of the best bars in Nassau County, New York.
