A Brief History of Car Accessories

Although most of us take cars for granted in this day and age, it is important to remember that in the scheme of things, cars are a relatively new addition to our culture and society. In the time they have been mainstream cars have evolved a crazy amount, and fortunately, so have the accessories that go with them. We spend so much time in our cars that there will always be a huge demand for items to make our ride more comfortable, fun and stylish.

This article is a run down of all the greatest car accessories on the market today that you can use to jazz up your driving experience!

Satellite Navigation

The satnav is a really recent invention in the world of driving, but my goodness what a helpful one. A few years ago the technology behind satnavs was a little bit primative (we've all ended up in a field when we tried to get somewhere) but they have come a long way and you can download the latest road maps to make sure you always hit your destination the first time around.

As well as becoming more common and technologically advanced, they've become more affordable, too. You can even buy apps for your smartphone that turn their GPS system into a satnav.

Portable Jump Starter

Gone are the days where you would have to carry around jump leads and hope there was another kind driver to help you out if you got in a battery related pickle. Nowadays we can get portable jump starters that you simply plug into your car battery and let them go to work, giving you enough juice to get your car back on the road.

MP3 Connection Kit

You can connect up your iPod or other MP3 player to connect up your player and listen to all of your favorite tracks at the push of a button. Not only is this a great way to be able to have your entire CD collection available to you whilst you drive, it is also a way to download and listen to podcasts or audiobooks to keep even your longest journeys entertaining.

Portable DVD Players

Nowadays, it certainly isn't uncommon to find cars with DVD players inbuilt, and you can even get awesome clip on holders to embed a DVD player in the back of the front headrests, these can also work with iPods, and you can even connect them up to your cigarette lighter and charge them while you drive.

Needless to say this is probably the ultimate car accessory if you take a lot of trips with kids in the back, and is an amazing way to keep them entertained, happy, and most importantly quiet when you are on a distance journey.
