The Best Fashion and Design Colleges in the USA

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

There are many institutes that make broad claims to help those who have very specific career hopes and dreams. Everything from general business studies to culinary arts, there is probably a very specific school to gear directly towards your ambitions for future employment if you look hard enough. One of the more popular institute types are fashion and design colleges. The best part is that you can get a serious job in fashion design through job placement and apprenticeship programs.

There are no shortages of available design/fashion colleges. The worst part of it is that they all will claim to be the best, and their websites do little to disprove the claim. I believe that through a good bit of research and school review, I have compiled a very strong list of what can easily be considered the best of fashion and design colleges in the United States.

There is no order to these institutions, as they are all highly regarded schools.

A good place to begin is with LIM College sitting comfortably in the heart of Manhattan, NY. They consider themselves one of the premier fashion colleges in the whole country for those seeking serious employment in the fashion industry. While their main draw is undergraduate programs, they also have graduate MBA programs for those wanting to take their potential stake in the fashion world seriously.

The second to be discussed is the Fashion Institute of Merchandising, which has been making quite a name for itself amongst the world of recent graduates filing into the fashion industry. They have four different campuses, which allows a heavier amount of students and opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships for hard working students who meet the criteria. The four campuses are located in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and San Diego. Their status as a school is evident in that the hit show Project Runway is filmed on one of the four campuses of FIDM.

And finally, the last school to be mentioned will be the Academy of Art University. This school won the "Best Fashion Design & Apparel Design Schools & Programs of 2008" award for their incredible dedication to sending out their students employed. One of the interesting features of this school is that they do offer degrees in the fashion world online. So you don't have to pack up and head out to New York or California. Some of the clients that pick up fresh fashion designer graduates from AAU include: DKNY, Gap Inc., Louis Vuitton, BCBG and many more.

These schools should be a place for you to begin. They are all serious contenders in getting you employed. The choices depend on where you want to go, or where you currently live.
