By Edited Aug 26, 2016 0 0

Mobile phones are now universally available and are the best ones are becoming essential tools for work and play. From video conferencing to video recording, the latest mobile phones are increasing in specification almost daily. In this article we will take a look at what could be the best mobile phones for 2012, whether they have been launched already or based on rumours and leaked information.

How do we define the best?

Defining the best is subjective, but in our view it is based on the following; price, features and build quality. You will pay a lot of money for the best mobile phones in 2012, but that is acceptable as long as it is good value compared to similar phones in the market. A good smartphone will have lots of features, and features which actually work well to do what was intended. Build quality is also an important factor when choosing the best mobile phone. A poorly made phone will feel cheap and not give the experience that you would expect from the best mobile phone.

That being said, you should handle any of these phones before buying them to check for basics like size, do you like the interface and things like can you hold in comfortable when in a long phone call.

The best mobile phones for 2012

This is a list of what we think are the best mobile phones for 2012 – and it should be noted they are in no particular order. You may think different phones should be on this list and if you do, feel free to write a comment below. This list is purely our opinion and you should always handle the phones yourself before buying a new phone.

Apple iPhone 4S/5

Apple launched its iPhone 4S in late 2011 after having left almost an 18 month gap between launching phones. The iPhone 4S packs a dual core processor, excellent, if not a little small, high resolution screen and 8MP camera with 1080p video recording.  Its party piece though is Siri, which is effectively a virtual assistant is allowing you to do many different things using your voice rather than interacting with the device. This is a very “cool” feature but its real world use might be limited. The iPhone 5 is likely to be launched towards the end of 2012 with a quad core processor and perhaps a larger screen size. Both the iPhone 4S and potential iPhone 5 will be amazing phones and competitors of the title “Best mobile phone for 2012”.

Samsung Galaxy

The Samsung Galaxy has been one of the best smartphones since it was launched and an upgraded version should be launched in 2012. Features such as quad core processor, 12 megapixel camera, large AMOLED screen and NFC (Near Field Communications) chips will keep it at the top of the phone market in 2012.

HTC Edge

The HTC Edge is an unannounced handset that is predicted to come with an 8MP camera, Android 4.0, quad core processor and a 4.7 inch display. This phone’s large screen makes it a competitor to phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note with its 5inch display. This phone is likely to be one of the best mobile phones for 2012 because of its high specification and HTC’s excellent build quality.

Motorola RAZR

The original Motorola RAZR was a fantastic phone with a slim design and the new version with a 4.5 inch 720p touchscreen looks to emulate its success.  It has a dual core processor combined with high quality 1080p video recording and may come in several different versions for each market around the world in 2012.

Motorola ATRIX

The original Motorola ATRIX offered a dual core processor combined with the innovative feature of docks to turn the phone into a laptop or desktop computer. The phone itself has a 4inch display, dual core chip, fast HSDPA and 8GB of storage.  A new version would surely have more ram and a faster quad core processor, offering a unique option for docking which is why it is on this list for the best mobile phones for 2012.

Sony Nozomi

The Nozomi smartphone is supposed to be Sony’s flagship device. A 720p 4.3 inch screen, dual core processor and HDMI port are among its features. This phone has yet to be launched and is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012.

There are a lot of new smart phones being launched in 2012. This list will be updated regularly as new manufacturers launch new phones to market. Also please feel free to check out my articles on the best new phones from Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, HTC and LG.
