The Best Video Game Halloween Costumes- Dress Up As Your Favourite Popular Character

By Edited Sep 18, 2016 0 0

With Halloween fast approaching, it seems everyone is frantically trying to decide which costume to go with this year. Over the years people have become pretty creative in their costume choices and designs. Video Game characters have started to emerge as a popular choice for many as their Halloween costume. The following are a few ideas of costumes for video game characters as well as some suggestions as to how you can create the costume yourself. Also keep in mind these suggestions are based on characters I believe are familiar to a broader audience.

Super Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach

The iconic Italian plumber is arguably the most recognizable video game character of all time. Whether you are a hard-core gamer or barely played video games at all, you are sure to know how Super Mario is. This is a simple costume and all you really require are a pair of navy blue overalls, a red shirt, a fake mustache, and red golf hat. If you are really creative you can make the letter M on the hat yourself, or you are sure to find one at a costume store or online. You can also pair up with a friend and goes and Mario and Luigi, or if you have a significant other you can go as Mario and Princess Peach. The Luigi costume is pretty much the same as Mario’s, except the shirt and the hat are green and there is a letter L on the hat instead of an M. Princess Peach requires a crown, a pink dress, and a long blonde-haired wig (unless you already have long blonde hair). The beauty of these characters is how simple the costumes are to make.

Street Fighter Characters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-Lee

If you’re a fan of the Street Fighter franchise then you will surely agree on these characters as costume choices. Ryu and Ken just need karate gis (white for ryu and red for ken), a black belt, open fingered sparring gloves, headbands, etc. Guile needs a green tank top, army camouflage cargo shorts, boots, a wig, and possibly a fake tattoo of an American flag for his shoulder. Chun-lee’s costume could be purchased at most costume stores. Of course there are many other characters from this franchise. However I just highlighted a few to give you a start if you are scratching your head for ideas.

Assassin’s Creed- Altair or Ezio

The protagonists of the Assassin’s creed titles are another great idea for a costume. The main piece consists of a white hooded cloak, which can be covered in armour, and plastic weapons, or however you see fit. The beauty of this idea is you can customize it to how you like, by adding different props. If you are a fan of the Assassin’s creed franchise, you will definitely enjoy creating this costume.

Legend of Zelda- Link or Princess Zelda

For all you Zelda fans, get ready to slip on that green tunic and hat and get away with it because it is Halloween. These two costumes will most likely require an outright purchase, unlike the previous costumes I mentioned, you are probably not going to find a green tunic and hat lying around your house. Adding to that mix is a shield and sword and whatever other items from the Zelda franchise you may wish to add to your costume. The same would go for princess Zelda as her dress is pretty specific looking with the triforce insignia and other hyrule symbols embroidered on it.

All these video game Halloween costumes are good base to start from. You can use one of these ideas for yourself, or hopefully they at least provided you with a revelation for your own costume ideas. Regardless of your choice, I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!
