Have you struggled with weight loss in the past? Do you go through phases of being on a diet and off a diet? Here are some great tips that will help you turn that diet into a lifestyle. Manage and track your results to maintain a better, healthy lifestyle.

Building An Exercise Plan

More important than your diet is how you build your exercise plan. It needs to be something you feel comfortable doing every day, but also challenges you to go above and beyond. Here is my personal daily workout. There are also great Starter workout plans available on Pinterest that help you slowly increase your reps more and more.

The 100 Workout Plan:

  • 100 Jumping Jacks
  • 90 Squats
  • 80 Leg lifts
  • 70 Crunches
  • 60 Jumping Jacks
  • 50 Squats
  • 40 Leg lifts
  • 30 Crunches
  • 20 Jumping Jacks
  • 10 Squats

This workout takes only 30 minutes out of your day and is a great way to warm up the body in the morning. It is actually better for you to do a morning workout because it jump starts your metabolism for the day.

The key to dieting is watching what you eat, which includes carbs. Carbs are probably the things that we consume the most of, and it is hard to replace those fatty carbs with healthier proteins. They key to building a great diet is to take advantage of many of the tools that we have at our disposal nowadays. I am going to talk about one program in particular that is free, easy to use, and generally very helpful when it comes to weight loss programs.

Lose It!

Lose It is a free computer and phone application that helps you track your food and exercise daily. It is a great tool to use because it tracks your weight loss, how long you have until you reach your goal, and actually gives you a breakdown of your daily nutrition. You can actually print out nutrition reports from your computer and create an awesome diet-tracking notebook to help you stay organized and keep on track. Not only that, but Lose It spends a lot of time helping to motivate you in your endeavors. For instance, you earn badges for adding friends to your profile, there are monthly challenge contests, and you can socialize with other people like you. This helps keep you motivated and stay on track. It is basically like a Facebook page for weight loss and so, so much more.

To conclude, dieting is not about what you create, but rather how you can portion your meals so that you may keep track of your daily intake but also treat yourself some of the time and actually live instead of dieting. It is perfectly okay to have that piece of cheesecake if you want it, you just need to make sure that you don't splurge every single day. If you have worked very hard all week, don't hesitate to reward yourself every once in a while. This is actually good for you body and is perfectly normal and healthy for any person to do. The key here is, don't starve yourself. Starving yourself will only slow down your metabolism and make weight loss more of a challenge.

Logging Your Progress

The key to any successful weight loss program is tracking what you are doing. As I have stated before, Lose It is a great app you can use that is easy to handle. In addition to that, making a binder is also very helpful. Especially if you are the type of person that sometimes forgets to workout, make yourself a daily checklist chart. Post it in a place that you are likely to walk by often during the day, and for every workout you complete put a check mark next to that day. This will help you see how often you work out and can motivate you to keep working towards your goal. You can do it!

There are many different ways you can approach this for your plan. Sometimes it is cool if you keep a money jar somewhere nearby. Every time you complete a successful workout, tip yourself one dollar. Once you have completed, say, fifty workouts, go out and treat yourself to that new pair of shoes you have always been wanting! It will be well worth the wait. Maybe you want to save up and buy that new pair of jeans now that you can fit into them! The possibilities are endless! Have fun with it!

In conclusion, weight loss and dieting can be difficult, but it is entirely up to you to make it worth while. Surround yourself with positive quotes, pictures, buddies and incentives that will help you become the person you have always wanted to be! The key to building a healthy lifestyle is all up to you: you are the one that will motivate yourself to success or failure. Which one will you choose?
