The Case for Dog Strollers, Why They Really Can Be a Good Idea
Let's face it, most of us did not grow up imagining that we might consider purchasing a regular jogging stroller let alone a stroller for Fido. Yet, for many, a dog has the same special place in a family that a child does and if your avocation is running, you want to be out there every day. You want your loyal companion to be at your side, yet not all pooches are created equal and a quick look at the benefits of dog strollers may be an eye opener.
If you are a dedicated runner and your pooch is of the bon-bon variety, there is an immediate problem in matching stride for step. It is simply unreasonable to expect that your little FiFi will be able to keep pace with you, yet you know that your little Princess wants to be with you. A dog stroller is a simple solution to this dilemma.
On the other end of the spectrum is your loyal companion of many years, the older dog. This pet has been your bud over the years and it just doesn't seem fair to leave Spot at home simply because he cannot quite go the distance anymore. A stroller permits Spot to get out, stretch his legs and then hop in for a ride when he's run out of energy.
Dog strollers can also help to share the load when you want to walk to a local shopping center. In the case of a small dog, you may actually be able to take your pet into a store as long as it is well-behaved and inclined to stay in the stroller. The stroller becomes a rolling shopping bag on the way home, saving you from struggling with sacks.
Finally, if your dog is not exactly the star of the dog obedience class, dog strollers can be a real asset in getting your pet to your destination without the fear of property damage or risk to smaller animals. It's no fun to expend all of your energy reining in your pet before you even get to the dog park. Simply pop your pooch into the stroller and get on out there.
