Losing Weight With The Chocolate Diet

You may not think it is possible, but you may be able to lose weight with the chocolate diet. However, there will be a few myths to explode first. You will not get to sit around, watch television, and devour an entire box of chocolate candy. Yet, you can satisfy your cravings and still eat healthy. Here is more information.

Chocolate is Good for You

If you eat the right kind of chocolate, it can actually be good for you. The best kind to get is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has more cocoa and is proven to be full of antioxidants, wich are very good for you. Antioxidants help to prevent your cells from damage that is caused by oxygen. Although you need oxygen to survive, over time it can cause your cells to break down and you will begin to show the signs of aging.

Cocoa in dark chocolate will provide necessary antioxidants that help to fight this action. Your body makes molecules called free radicals as it uses oxygen. These free radicals can attack healthy cells, and this can make you more susceptible to illness and disease. Antioxidants fight these free radicals and help minimize their damage.

The Chocolate Diet Menu - What Eating Chocolate Means

Many diet plans suggest that you eliminate the chocolate from your meals for a week. This is often used to help the cravings die down. However, the first few days may be difficult. After the first week, you may be able to eat one ounce per day. At no time should you consume more than 300 calories per day of dark chocolate. There can be too much of a good thing.

Foods - What to Eat

You can have as many low-calorie vegetables as you like on a chocolate diet. Eat plenty of broccoli, asparagus, peppers, mushrooms, spinach, and anything that does not contain a lot of calories. This may help to keep you full, as these vegetables are high in fiber. Your total calories should be no more than 2,000 for men and 1500 for women. Of course, your activity level may call for more calories.

It is always advised to drink plenty of water. This will keep you hydrated and make it easier to lose weight. It may be a good idea to exchange herbal teas for coffee, as this can sometimes help with cravings. If you must have caffeine, switch to green tea or even better, green decaffeinated tea. Green tea has a lot of antioxidants and can help to boost your immune system.

The chocolate diet is about eating healthy and having no more than 300 calories of chocolate, daily. (yes, daily !) If you drink plenty of water and exercise, it can be part of an effective weight loss plan. It will also help to eliminate cravings for sugar and sweets.
