The Differences with Fixed Projector Screens

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

There are quite a few differences between fixed projector screens, even though they may look similar at first. In fact, most of the differences are not with the appearance of the screen, but more with the performance of the screen. These differences may be a plus in one situation, and may not be that beneficial in other situations, depending on the type of projector used and the actual layout of the room the projector is in.

Fortunately, if you are using a newer projector, one that is only a couple of years old, you will have fewer issues with the projector screens than if you are using an older model projector.

Resolution: The resolution that shows up on the screen is not always dependent on the type of projector used, or the make of the fixed projector screen either. In fact, in order to ensure that you are getting the quality that you are after, it is a good idea to try to screen with the actual projector model that you will be using. Of course this is not foolproof either, as sometimes the showcase projectors are not really in prime condition, nor are they tuned as well as they could be.

Screen Brightness: As with the resolution, there is not always a very clear or precise reason why one screen is brighter than the other. Sometimes it is not due to the screen, but to the projector lamp dimming. Gain rating does have something to do with this also. One point to keep in mind when judging screen brightness is that usually the smaller the screen the brighter and more clear the image, especially if you are using the type of projector that most home theaters use.

Build: Normally, with the fixed projector screen, the actual build of the screen is not as important as it is with either the portable screen or the electric projector scrolling screen. However, you do want to ensure that the screen is built well, to last, and that it will not fall apart when you try to put it up or anything like that.

Also, somewhat related, some fixed projector screens come with a variety of choices when it comes to the framework. This is really great if you are trying to work one into a home theater, and it needs to match the existing room's décor. So, keep that in mind when you are looking at different options for projector screens.

If you are going to be using the screen with a fairly new projector, most of these points should not be an issue. If, however, you are working with an older projector, buying a better quality fixed projector screen will most definitely improve your viewing pleasure.
