When it is time to buy a new mattresses there will be a number of things you will need to think about. They are things such as brand, thickness, comfort and size. The most common question people ask is about the measurements of the different sizes and which one they should choose for their circumstances. In this article, I will take you through the four sizes of mattresses and which ones will suit various situations.

Twin mattresses are normally 39 by 75 inches. They are sometimes called single bed because they are only made for a single person. While they won’t fit a taller or large person, they are great for young children and teenagers.

Full size mattresses are typically 54 by 75 inches. They are the same length as twin mattresses but have extra width. Most people will use beds this size as a guest bed for unexpected drop ins. You will also find this sized mattress in college dorms rooms or similar accommodation locations.

Queen mattresses are 60 by 80 inches. This sized mattress is what most couples choose. They have enough room for two people to sleep comfortably. Due to their larger size, they are usually not used as spare beds or for smaller rooms.

King mattresses are normally 76 by 80 inches. However, there is a California King which is 72 by 84 inches. There is also a King Split which is 78 by 80 inches. Finally, there is a Grand King which is 80 by 90 inches and is the largest of all the beds that you can buy. King mattresses are best for taller couples, larger couples or those who just want to be lost inside a bed.

As you can see, there is a wide range of mattress sizes that will suit almost any situation. Of course, there are other considerations. The most important one is the thickness of the mattress. Generally speaking, the thicker the mattress the more comfortable it will be.

There are also different types of mattresses. Waterbeds can be comfortable but really are a personal choice. Air mattresses are often used as spare beds that can be folded away. Just remember the sizes of the room. A twin air mattress will inflate less than a queen air mattress and therefore will be better for smaller rooms.

In conclusion, you need to decide on what you will be using the mattress for and your personal preferences before you decide on the size of mattress. Children will mostly suit a twin or full mattress, while adult couples will suit queen and king mattresses.
