Vasthelm Quest Series
Like the Crusader Quest Series, this is started by speaking to Crusader Lord Marraldor in Castle St. Graecius. The series takes place around the Nord settlement of Vasthelm in the north of Dibella's Watch.
This is started by speaking to Crusader Lord Marraldor and asking him "Do you have any alternative missions?"

He told me to check up on the delegation if I ever have my way past the little City State. I should speak to the Minister at Vasthelm Castle to get entrance to the government areas in the city."
Make your way to Vasthelm Castle in Vasthelm and talk to First Minister Jaen. He tells you to go and speak to the princess, who is in the Princess' Quarters, but is only available between 5AM and 9PM.

The Princess tells you that one of the Crusader delegates has gone to Hoegborg with some Valkyries, but recommends you don't follow as the castle has a bad reputation.
Castle Hoegborg is full of various undead and mages. Completing the quest will require finding various keys in order to open the various locked doors in the castle.

In the entrance room Crusader Cerize is fighting a Hellrise Battlemage and two Hellrise Warriors. Kill them and then talk to her to start the quest. You need to find somewhere safe for her to sleep and recuperate. There is only one unlocked door, that to the Hoegborg Lower Dungeon Hallway, all the rest requiring a key to open, so enter that. Go to the end of the dungeon and get the Hoegborg Lower Dungeon Key from the table, which will unlock the locked prison cell. On the table in there is the Hoegborg Upper Halls Key.Credit: Antiscamp/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC Ltd
Now go back to Hoegborg and unlock the Hoegborg Upper Halls with the key you just obtained. There are two areas that can be reached from the Upper Halls. The Hoegborg Dining Hall has the Hoegborg North Halls Key on a Silver Plate on the table. In the South Tower go up the ladder to the top of the tower and then use the exit to Dibella's Watch. There is a Chest with the Lord's Quarters Key inside it.
Go back again to Hoegborg and unlock the Hoegborg North Halls. Make your way through them to the Old Lord's Quarters and unlock them with the key from the South Tower. Enter and kill the Hellrise Greater Skeleton.
"I have secured Cerize a suitable bed to heal in by killing a most monstrous being inside the Old Lord's Quarters. This place should be safe now though, so I now need to go get her here."
Now return to Crusader Cerize and speak to her.
"I am bringing Cerize to the Old Lord's Quarters."
Escort her to the Old Lord's Quarters and lead her to the bed, then speak to her again.
"Cerize is now resting. I should search these quarters for clues as to what might have happened to this castle and why. There must be something in here."
On the bookshelves is the Hoegborg's Lord's Journal, which wasn't there when the room was visited earlier. Read it.
"I've found the old castle master's journal, and it explains in some sick words how this castle came to meet the fate it has. I've read it with great interest, and almost lost track of time. I shall now wake Cerize again so we can continue our escape from here."
Now go and speak to Cerize, then make your way back to Hoegborg. There are monsters again in the areas previously visited, including more Hellrise Greater Skeletons. Talk to Cerize after defeating the two new Hellrise warriors in the entrance hall.
"Cerize and I are now going through the great gate in the entrance hall. I wonder what we'll find on the other side."
Go into Hoegborg Great Hall through the now unlocked door and kill the two Hellrise Greater Skeletons in the room. Search the bodies as one has the Guard Barracks Key on it. Go to the Guard Barracks off the Great Hall; the Smith Key is on a ledge to the right near the entrance door. One of the two Valkyries who accompanied Cerize is in here, dead.

Take it and enter the Throne Room; the other Valkyrie is here, also dead. There are three Hellrise Warriors and three Hellrise Greater Skeletons in here. Once they are all killed a shade appears, that of the Mad Magician.

The doors to the Castle Office and War Room off the Throne Room are now unlocked. In the War Room you need the note The Lock Mechanisms of Hoegborg, which is on a Table and in the Castle Office you need Breathing Life Into Bones, also on a table. Once you have both of these return to the Mad Magician. Interestingly, if any of the creatures from the War Room or Castle Office enter the Throne Room, he will fight them.Credit: Antiscamp/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC Ltd
Speak to him, and he unlocks the trapdoor to the Laboratory, and takes the two notes from you. make your way through the Laboratory to the exit, which requires the Hoegborg Exit Key found in a Chest here, and, once back outside, speak to Cerize, which finishes the quest. She suggests that you check to see what is happening at the Vasthelm Bridge, which will start the quest The Winter War.
