This quest starts when you accept High Chancellor Ocato's offer to become the Commander of South Cyrodiil at the end of Revelation.

The objective of this quest is getting your new castle fully furnished. This is a quest that, to complete, simply requires time and a lot of money.

"I have accepted High Chancellor's Ocato's offer to become the Commander of South Cyrodiil. I am now the Lord of Castle Relleis which has been renamed to The Castle of the Nine. Ocato has sent one of his senior servants to assist with the castle's refitting and to serve as steward of the castle."

The ProphetCredit: Lanceor/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC LtdMake your way to Gareth's former castle, which is now the Castle of the Nine. In the courtyard is the Prophet. Speak to him and he will tell you that the castle is now consecrated.

"The Prophet who sent me on the original pilgrimage has appeared at the Castle of the Nine! He says that he has consecrated it so that it is now a holy place of worship."

Now enter the Main Hall and speak to Valerius.ValeriusCredit: Lanceor/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC Ltd

"I've met Valerius, the steward that High Chancellor Ocato sent. He has a number of suggestions for upgrades to the castle."

When asked about "Services" Valerius will tell you that there is a rowboat that allows quick transport to the Waterfront District tied up at the dock outside the castle. This can also be used to get back to the castle from the waterfront.

Asking him then about "Items for sale" and he will tell you that if you have any items that you want to sell, Valerius travels to the Market District every day, and will sell them for you. Simply place the items you want to sell in the chest at the bottom of the stairs in the Lord's Quarters and he will sell them and place the gold there.

Asking about "The Priory of the Nine" starts the quest Rebuilding the Priory.

There is an extensive list of topics when he is asked about "Castle Upgrades," and there are a lot of improvements that can be done to the castle.

The Lord's Quarters also have their own improvements that can be done.

Paintings and banners can be added to the quarters for 800 gold the next day.

Weapons and armour storage will take two days and cost 1,600 gold, and includes labelled chests.

Valerius will not start any of these until you give him the go-ahead and pay for them.

The quest is complete once all the upgrades have been purchased and done. After this the quests The Arrow of Time and Kyne's Spirit will be possible.

Rebuilding the Priory

"Valerius knows of a builder who can rebuild the Priory of the Nine. Because of the extensive damage, it will cost 30,000 septims and several weeks to repair."

This quest starts when you ask Valerius about "The Priory of the Nine" and involves rebuilding the Priory. This will take several weeks and costs 30,000 gold. When enough time has passed to finish the work, your quest log will inform you of this.

Until the Priory is rebuilt it, with the exception of the Chapel, is surrounded by boarding. The Chapel may still have Aurorans and Ayleid Soldiers in it if they weren't killed in Attack on the Priory.

Gareth's Equipment

This quest only happens if you don't loot Gareth's corpse after killing him.

"I have received a letter from High Chancellor Ocato advising that the armour and weapon that Gareth was using in the Temple of the One is stored in the Imperial Legion Armory. I can collect them at any time."

You can go and collect his equipment any time you want.

Kyne's Spirit

This quest cannot be started until all the improvements on the Castle are completed. Once they are, Dame Avita will approach you when you pass near her and tell you that her rangers have spotted a large, ghostly animal near the castle.

Choosing "I'll investigate the apparition" starts the quest.

"Dame Avita says that there has been a strange apparition appearing in the woods northwest of the castle each evening. It appears to be some sort of a large, ghostly creature. I should investigate what it is."

ApparitionCredit: Lanceor/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC LtdThe apparition is a horse. Every time you approach it will run away, stopping so that you can catch up again. Using a Detect Life spell with a decent range can help here, as it allows you to easily spot where the horse spirit has got to, which can otherwise be lost, as it is quite likely that you will run into various random monsters and animals as you follow it.

Location of the Grove of TrialsCredit: Lanceor/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC LtdThe apparition is making its way to the Grove of Trials, which was visited during the Knights of the Nine quest Nature's Fury. Once the horse spirit and you reach the Grove, your log will update.

"This horse must be a gift from Kynareth. It seems to have a very free-spirited personality, yet seems to understand my commands. It will make a fine steed. (Use the horse while sneaking to open menu.)"

SpiritCredit: Lanceor/Bethesda Softworks/eGDC LtdThe horse, Spirit, becomes real at this point. Choosing to mount it completes the quest, and you now own a new White Horse, with quite a few features, that replaces any existing mount you had. Should you still have been using Prior Maborel's Paint Horse it will have returned to Weynon Priory.

The Horse Armour Note from the official plug-in will not provide armour for Spirit, as you are told that you don't own a horse. Instead, Sergius Turrianus in the Smithy of the Castle of the Nine will armour Spirit for you. You can change the type of armour later if desired.
