The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Plugin Walkthrough - Windfall: A Decision

By Edited Aug 16, 2015 0 0

After you discovered and ended the leak from your faction in A Traitor, you are now faced with a decision as to whether you wish to keep with the same faction, or change sides in the Windfall plugin for Oblivion.

A Decision

Varo's Knights

"Ramonius has said he will be sending me on a very important mission. Just as soon as he knows what it is, I guess. Right now I am on my way to Beelet's Gems to wait for a message to arrive. As soon as Meradalor receives it, I should bring it back to Ramonius. "

Happia Gladius
Ramonius wants you to go to Beelet's Gems and retrieve a message. On your way there you will be approached by Happia Gladius. Let her approach and initiate the conversation; don't initiate it yourself. Happia plays on your doubts, reciting information from your quest log, and invites you to join The Righteous. You have to make a decision now; you aren't allowed any more time to wait.

If you agree, Happia suggests that you move anything you want to keep out of Brend's Barrels and gives you a key to a room in The Thirsty Peasant. She tells you to continue what you were doing for now.

"That was a very strange meeting. I just joined the Righteous. The Knights are too disorganized to win this, and I prefer the winning side. Besides I am tired of all the senseless killing. But I'll have to mull the change later. I have a lot to do in a short amount of time. I need to continue this job for the Knights, and still move my stuff from Brend's Barrels before the Knights realize what happened. I can't rely on getting back into Brend's Barrels much longer. Perhaps I should move now."

If you say you are going to stick with the Knights, she accepts your decision. You can't inform Ramonius about being approached.

"Is it enough that I am staying true to my word and supporting the Knights? Or should I tell Ramonius about this? And if I did, tell him what? "Some stranger approached me to join the Righteous. This stranger read my secret journal, you know the one I write all your secrets in."  I'm sure that'll inspire confidence. But, if the rebels know as much as they seem to, I better watch my back. And what kind of name is Happia? I'll bet she got harassed as a kid."

Either way, you are going to proceed to Beelet's Gems. When you get there, Meradalor asks why it took you so long. He then gives you the Letter, which needs taking back to Ramonius who then quizzes you, no matter which decision you made. Your next task is to go and meet the spy, Brand, who was detailed in the letter at Fort Lucie (which you may have visited during the quest The Deed) and marks it on your map.

Moon Zu
Enter Fort Lucie - there is probably a Daedra outside - and you will discover two Assassins and Moon Zu, who will try to kill you. On Moon Zu is the Assassin's Orders hiring him to kill you. Here is where the quest diverges depending on your decision earlier.

If you joined The Righteous:

The Orders are signed by Ramonius.

"It seems there was more to Ramonius' inquisition then just idle curiosity. If I was unsure about my choice, this clarifies things. No going back to the Knights now. If I left anything at Brend's Barrels, it is surely lost. I should find Gruff at Righteous Hall and let him now what happened."

Go and meet Gruff Grub-Lok at Righteous Hall. He gives you 200 Gold and from this point you are no longer a member of Varo's Knights but are instead a member of The Righteous with the rank of Rebel. From this point your quests will be done on The Righteous path.

If you stayed with Varo's Knights:

The Orders are instead signed by Gruff Grub-Lok.

"It seems that the Righteous did not take my refusal kindly. If I had any second thoughts, this ends them. I must report to Ramonius.  He won't like the failure, but if there was a leak it didn't come from me and this note will prove it."

Return to speak to Ramonius, who gives you 300 Gold.

The Righteous

"Gruff has said he will be sending me on a very important mission. Just as soon as he knows what it is, I guess. Right now I am on my way to Julnino's to wait for a message to arrive. As soon as Amatia  receives it, I should bring it back to Gruff."

Gruff wants you to go to Julnino's and speak to Amatia. On the way you will be approached by Happia Gladius, as you were with the Knights. She again plays on your doubts and recites parts of your quest journal, inviting you to join Varo's Knights. Again, you have to make the decision now.

If you agree to join the Knights, Happia suggests that you move anything you want to keep out of The Thirsty Peasant and gives you a key to a room in Brend's Barrels.

"That was a very strange meeting. I just joined the Knights. The Righteous are too brutal for my taste, and I am tired of all the lies. But I'll have to mull the change later. I have a lot to do in a short amount of time. I need to continue this job for the Righteous, and still move my stuff from the Thirsty Peasant before the Righteous realize what happened. I can't rely on getting back into The Thirsty Peasant much longer. Perhaps I should move now."

If you stay with The Righteous, Happia accepts your decision.

"Is it enough that I am staying true to my word and supporting the Righteous? Or should I tell Gruff about this? And if I did, tell him what? "Some stranger approached me to join the Knights. This stranger read my secret journal, you know the one I write all your secrets in."  I'm sure that'll inspire confidence. But, if the Knights know as much as they seem to, I better watch my back. And what kind of name is Happia? I'll bet she got harassed as a kid."

Go to Julnino's Arms and get the letter from Amatia. Take the Letter back to Gruff who will also quiz you. You now have to go and meet the spy Brand at Fort Lucie, which Gruff marks on your map.

Go to Fort Lucie; again, there may be a daedra outside, and again, there are two Assassins and Moon Zu who will try and kill you. Take the Assassin's Orders from Moon Zu, and once again, the quest diverges here.

If you joined Varo's Knights

The orders are signed by Gruff Grub-Lok.

"It seems there was more to Gruff's questions then just idle curiosity. If I was unsure about my choice, this clarifies things. No going back to the Righteous now. If I left anything at the Thirsty Peasant, it is surely lost. I should find Ramonius at castle and let him now what happened."

Go and meet Ramonius at the castle. He will give you 300 Gold and you are no longer a member of The Righteous, but instead a member of Varo's Knights with the rank of Lieutenant and further quests will be done for Varo's Knights.

If you stayed with The Righteous.

The Orders are signed by Ramonius.

"It seems that the Knights did not take my refusal kindly. If I had any second thoughts, this ends them. Gruff needs to be told what happened here. I don't want him thinking it was my fault. I'd better take that note as proof it wasn't my stupidity that screwed it up."

Return and speak to Gruff, who will give you 200 Gold.

Whatever happened, your faction now sends you out of town in A Relic to keep you from view.
