No Harm, No Fowl

KunnariCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdAsking about rumours in Amber Creek can bring up the news that something is killing Kunnari's chickens. If you speak to Kunnari, who can usually be found around his farm, and ask him if the farm in town is his, he will tell you that it is and he raises the finest chickens in all of Falskaar - except that something has been killing them.

Inquire further and he will tell you that something is killing his chickens every night. Attempts to catch whatever is doing it, by both him and the guard, have failed as it seems whatever is killing them knows when it is being watched. He asks you to wait in the bushes by his farm at midnight and see what appears, then track it to its lair and kill it and its kin.Wolf at Kunnari's FarmCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC Ltd

"Kunnari has asked me to wait outside his farm in the bushes around one in the morning. Something has been attacking his chickens, and he thinks I may be able to figure it out."

Outside Sunken Skull BarrowCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdThe Location of Sunken Skull BarrowCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdGo to the bushes and wait until midnight. A Wolf appears and kills a chicken, then runs off. It heads towards Sunken Skull Barrow. Outside the barrow are three Wolves and a necromancer - for it is not just wolves doing the hunting. Enter the barrow, which is inhabited by necromancers, who will follow their standard practice of raising the dead as zombies, and Wolves.

The Chain in Sunken Skull BarrowCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdFinal Cave in Sunken Skull BarrowCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdMake your way through to the final large chamber. There are enough Wolves and necromancers who will come running to make a straight out attack potentially fatal. In the final chamber is the chief necromancer. On a table near the cooking pot is the Necromancer's Journal, in which it's detailed that they have been using a magic crystal to send the Wolf to Amber Creek and kill the chicken.Necromancer's JournalCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC Ltd

Sunken Skull Barrow's Magic Crystal FragmentCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdAlso in this chamber is a Magic Crystal Fragment. When this is taken the quest Dreams in Oblivion will either start, if it hasn't already, or continue further. Once the necromancers are all dead and the crystal is taken, return to Kunnari.

The HAndle in Sunken Skull BarrowCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC Ltd"I have removed the crystal, ending the necromancers magical rein of control over the wolves, and terror over Kunnari's farm. I should let Kunnari know that the problem has been dealt with."

Tell Kunnari that it was Wolves and necromancers that were preying on his chickens. He will have a bit of a moan about how difficult life is, then give you your rewards. He will pay 10 Salt Piles, 5 Grilled Chicken Breasts and 250 Gold, a reward for finishing early. Kunnari will also say that he will trade with you at any time, day or night, to help repay you for what you've done.

"Kunnari was very pleased that I was able to quickly track the wolf down and resolve the issue in a timely fashion, saving the lives of many of his fowl. He rewarded me with extra money and supplies."

Old Friends

OudinCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdOudin, the lumberjack in Amber Creek, wants someone to do a favour for him. Find him and ask "Do you need help with something?" Apparently, he found a note from his childhood friend Jonulv in the forest whilst he was cutting trees. The note says that the bandits of Stoneridge Watch are planning to attack Amber Creek. Oudin wants you to go an investigate and, if you can, rescue Jonulv.

Once you agree to help, you can ask Oudin more questions. He will tell you that Jonulv was kidnapped by bandits and held for ransom many years ago, but his father died before he could pay the ransom, and it was assumed that Jonulv was killed. Oudin says that he doesn't have the skills to investigate himself, and that Jalma did not seem to consider the bandits to be a serious threat when he told her about them.

The Location of Stoneridge WatchCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC Ltd"Oudin asked me to search Stoneridge Watch, on the cliffs southeast of Amber Creek, for clues on the note from Jonulv. It claims that the bandits plan on attacking Amber Creek. I need to stop the bandits, and try to find Jonulv. I should search the fort."

Stoneridge WatchCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdStoneridge Watch is a large fortress in the Imperial style built on the southern mountains of Amber Hold. The track leading up to the castle is opposite a den with a couple of bears in it. The castle is occupied by bandits, who are not immediately hostile. They will warn you off when you approach before attacking.

Secret Entrance to Stoneridge WatchCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdThere are enough bandits outside to make an attack dangerous to do, but not as many as might be thought from a distance, as there are various dummies made up to look as if they are guarding the place. In the south west tower is a gate that needs a key to unlock. In the north east tower there is a trapdoor in the floor leading to Stoneridge Watch - Quarters. There is an alternate, unmarked entrance, which bypasses the exterior of the castle. In the lowlands there is a passage leading up to Stonebridge Watch - Quarters, with several Frostbite Spiders in it, ending in an Adept locked door.

You need to make your way through Stoneridge Watch - Quarters to Stonebridge Watch - Stockade, both of which areas are inhabited by more bandits. Stealth is useful here. As you approach a plank bridge over the central area of the tower in Stonebridge Watch - Stockade, you will hear someone calling out for help, saying that he is down below. The bridge crosses over an open area with cages in the bottom.

JonulvCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdStonebridge Watch Prison KeyCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdJonulv is locked in one of the cages and, when you get closer, he says that the Stonebridge Watch Prison Key is on a nearby table. You can't unlock the cage yourself; you must first speak to Jonulv. Spiking to him reveals that, after he was kidnapped and his father died, he joined the bandits rather than die. After warning Oudin about the attack, the other bandits locked him up. He asks for your forgiveness, which can be granted or not, then takes the key and opens the cage. If you hadn't started the quest at this point, it will now start.

Location of the Bandits CampCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdJonulv says that the bandit force has a camp down the road where they are waiting before the attack, and that they need to be stopped. He then runs off out of the castle towards the camp, and attacks the bandits when near. Fortunately for him, he can't be killed. You may wish to use a better strategy than attacking a superior force head on.

Oudin and JonulvCredit: Alexander J Velicky/Bethesda/eGDC LtdOnce all the bandits are dead, Jonulv runs off again, this time for Amber Creek where he speaks to Oudin. He explains what happened to him, and how he used to be a bandit too. Oudin isn't happy but forgives him. If you are there, Oudin will then approach you and give you 250 Gold; if you are not, you will need to seek him out to get the reward.

"Jonulv is back in Amber Creek with Oudin, who compensated me for my help, and the town is now safe."
