The FIRM has been around a long time and they have many different workout DVDs to choose from. I had never tried one by The Firm and I chose this one because it promises to be quick. If you have read any of my other reviews, I like my workouts to be over-with quickly so anything that promises to 'cut your workout in half' is worth a try.

My philosophy is to keep my workouts short but intense and therefore, I am less likely to slack off and skip a day. This method has been working for me for over a year now. Facing a 10 or 20 minute workout is much more appealing to me than 45 minutes to an hour at home or the gym.

This DVD boasts of a 'revolutionary method' that will help you boost your metabolism, 'shed inches and blast calories'. On top of that, they claim that you will 'see results in 10 workouts or less'.  The method is that of high intensity interval training where you work your hardest for a short time and then recover while doing resistance or strength training. This method is proven to be more effective for fat loss since you will burn more calories during this type of workout. I love that the workouts are only 20 minutes long including warm up and cool down. You will need hand weights and a mat for these workouts.

While The Firm has the right idea by mixing the cardio and strength training, I find that some of the 'bursts' are much too short (8 seconds) and are not all that challenging. I would consider myself to be an 'intermediate' type when it comes to fitness DVDs. Also, the choreography is quite fast-paced and difficult to master the first few times so I did not get what I needed out of the cardio segments since I was too busy trying to figure out where to move my feet! There is a modifier for intensity, however, to follow for when you are just beginning

There are 2 different workouts to choose from so I would alternate over the week. There is also a downloadable workout that is only 10 minutes long. This one, again, has a very quick pace but I actually like it better than the workouts on the DVD.

I would recommend this workout DVD as a great starting point for the beginner who wants a challenging fitness routine while trying to make it a daily habit. Because the workouts are short, there is more motivation to stick with it AND I did see results.
