The FUE Technique For Hair Restoration

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

OK let's start off on a bit of a positive note with this article. It is possible to get hair growing in your bald spot again. Whether you are a man or a woman you can treat the loss of hair you are experiencing. Now for the bad news, you aren't going to do it by spreading some home grown remedy on your head, or by using some high priced hair growth solution found on the internet. The only way to deal with bald spots and balding is to have a hair restoration surgery procedure performed. That is it, there is no other way to get hair growing once it has fallen out.

Now lets talk about he possible methods you can use. The first type of hair implant is known as the plug style. With this hair implantation technique the surgeon will remove a round plug of scalp that has hair growing on it. He or she will then make and incision in the scalp at the balding area. This plug of scalp is then inserted into the incision and sewn in. As you can imagine this causes a great deal of pain and scarring. Not only that but the results are not very appealing either. The patient ends up with hair growing every which way because it is hard to determine the hair growth direction of the plugs that are implanted. If you want hair implants and this is the only style you can afford I would say just skip it.

The second type of hair restoration surgery is called the strip method and is better than the plug. With this type the surgeon will again remove a portion of scalp but it is in a narrow strip. The resulting wound is very easily sewn up leaving a very thin scar line. A medical assistant will then take the strip and individually remove all the hair follicles and their associated support structures. These follicles are cleaned and prepared and then given to the surgeon who has mapped out the placement of the new hairs. Each individual follicle is then implanted into the scalp taking care to match the directional growth of the surrounding hairs. This gives a very good natural look but you still end up with scars at the back of the head and with potential infection.

The last method is the follicular unit extraction method or FUE. Follicular unit extraction involves removing individual hairs and placing them into the scalp with out the need for incision at the removal stage or the insertion stage. This is a good balding treatment because the hairs look natural and there is no scarring. Also, the discomfort only lasts for two to four days.
