Fruit is a vital part of our diet, as it contains lots of vitamins and minerals. The benefits of eating fruit are nearly unlimited. Although some fruit is sweet, it is a well known fact that the sugar contained in fruit is good for you because it's a natural type of sugar.

You will always find that any diet, be it a slimming diet or just a healthy diet, almost always consists of fruit. Aside from fruit being a natural, healthy food, it contains a lot of water which is very important in everyone's diet.

Fruit comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and they vary in the nutrients that they contain. For example, oranges are fantastic for their vitamin C content, a necessity when it comes to keeping colds away. They are also naturally sweet, so eating them can take the place of other sweet things (like candy) that are not good for your health.

Bananas, another type of fruit, are a great natural energy food as they contain potassium along with other essential vitamins. If you are ever feeling tired and you're lacking energy, it is always a good idea to eat a banana. Bananas also make a terrific "on the go" snack for those who have a busy life.

One of the most beneficial aspects of fruit is that it contains absolutely no fat, no cholesterol, and very little, if any, sodium. Many fruits also contain folic acid and magnesium, both of which are truly beneficial to your health. Including plenty of fresh fruit in your diet will ensure your digestion system will function better. Fiber is also a major part of our diet and lots of fruit and their skins contain fiber. For example, an apple eaten with its skin on can contain up to 2 grams of fiber, which is a necessity for the digestive system.

Another major health benefit from a diet rich in fruit is that it can really help in keeping skin looking healthy. Before you spend a lot of money on cosmetic products to improve your skin, it might be worth first asking yourself, "Do I eat enough fruit?"

It is also a proven fact that people who eat plenty of fruit are less likely to develop such diseases as diabetes, Alzheimer's, or heart disease. In addition, because fruit will provide your body with so many nutrients, it can help you fight off infections and repair cells in your body.

Apart from the obvious health benefits, fruit is also great because most are sweet and delicious. From strawberries and grapes, to melons or peaches, the delicious choices are endless. Furthermore, most fruit is small, portable, and therefore very convenient to eat anywhere you are.

In addition to eating fruit, drinking the natural juice of a fruit can also be very good for you. For example, pomegranate juice and cranberry juice can do wonders for your health and the latter can help prevent urinary tract infections as well as provide you with many vitamins.

Next time you feel the need to eat a sweet, tasty snack, don't reach for that high calorie, fatty chocolate bar. Instead, reach for a piece of fruit. You really will not be disappointed and it will soon satisfy your need for sweets while leaving you feeling refreshed and healthy.
