Congratulations, you've asked your dream girl out on a date and she said yes! But now the real stress begins. It's time to plan your first date and you want it to be special. The first date is an all important moment where you get to impress the object of your affections. It may be hard to decide what to do, but the number one rule is to be yourself. Pick an activity that allows your personality to shine though. After all, there is no point going surfing if you hate the water and don't know how to swim. More than the activity itself, it is your personality that you want to show off.

Before deciding where to go on your first date, you should look into where not to go. Going to the movies is a popular traditional first date destination, but that is changing in recent times. The main reason is that you simply don't get a chance to talk to your date while watching a movie. So avoid any place that limits your conversations. By all means choose something that let's you have fun, but getting to know your possible soulmate should be the main goal.

As for good first date suggestions, the beach ranks as one of the most popular. The great thing about the beach is that its inexpensive, yet very romantic. You have a chance to stroll on the sand while the water touches your feet. Anything that involves light walks is a good idea, so also consider a trip to the park or even an amusement park. Remember, the activity is not as important as the way you carry yourself. Above all else, don't try too hard. If you believe in destiny it will be a matter of fate, so be as comfortable as possible and you may soon find yourself on a second date.

A lot of guys think that if they go overboard on the romance then that will impress a girl. But they don't understand what true romance is. It's not about buying a bunch of flowers or renting a limousine to go to the opera. In fact, these grand gestures can really freak someone out if you do them too soon. Save those idealistic "movie" ideas for the realm of fantasy and be realistic when you're on a date. Keep it casual, light, and fun. If things click then you can surely introduce the more romantic elements in the future. But if you rush things, then you might experience a breakup before you even get started.
