The Importance of the Federal Pell Grant Qualifications

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

When most people first receive their application for a Pell Grant, it confuses and frightens them. They automatically think that it is too complicated and that it will be hard to qualify.

Pell Grants are actually really easy to obtain as long as the applicant is truthful about his/her circumstances. Almost any disadvantaged or low to middle income person can qualify. This makes it really great for those on disability, or those with certain financial needs to return to school and get the training that they need to advance in their lives. I have filled out several of these applications on behalf of myself as well as my children and have found that it was not at all hard to qualify.

My eldest daughter suffers from severe HD/ADD and bi-polar problems and had a real tough time working with the general public. She receives a Social Security disability for these and is on a very limited income. She really wanted to train for a job that she could handle so that she could become independent. The Pell Grant was the answer. She is now attending college on a full time basis in a field that she is very comfortable in and she is doing great there. She already has several excellent employment offers pending.

As for comprehending the Pell Grant qualifications, it is not that hard. If you answer all of the questions on the form and, you are honest about them, the form will direct you as you go and will stop you along the way if you fail to meet the appropriate federal Pell Grant qualifications. Also, any college or trade school in your area will allow a councilor to guide you through and will explain the qualifications to you. They can answer most of your questions and lead you to answers that they do not have.

I would highly advise anyone who is unsure about these qualifications to simply fill out the application form and submit it. You may be pleasantly surprised when you receive the results.
