LCD vs. LED Monitors

In terms of lighting techniques, these two types of monitors hold a vast difference. For example, LCD screens comprise of fluorescent tubing lights compressed between dual glass panels. Meanwhile, LED displays use backlights designed with an array of lights. The lights are evenly arranged on the back of the panel or positioned on the screen edges. Furthermore, the contrast ratios of LED displays are much higher because they prevent light from escaping through the pixels.

Due to the difference in light quality, the viewing angles on LEDs are enhanced as compared to LCD screens. From a sharp angle, the clarity and contrast of LCDs are very low due to the lack of a perfect backlight distribution.

Aside from the aforementioned differences, motion handling of both displays are excellent and the same. The only downside to the typical LED monitor is that it is expensive and priced at approximately 20% more than an LCD monitor.
