Following the hype of the Nokia N97, the Nokia N900 makes its way into the high tech touchscreen world. The Nokia N900 is the latest high feature mobilephone that hit the UK.

The Nokia N900 is also the most anticipated phone ever since it was announced last year. Unlike the Nokia N97, it proves to be a lot better than the latter. This is because the Nokia N900 is based on Maemo platform. It runs on Maemo 5 Linux operating system. To meet it's need for speed, the Nokia N900 uses the TI OMAP3 microprocessor with the ARM Cortex-A8 core.

If you're confused of those terms, in Layman's term it just means that the Nokia N900 is a top speed mobilephone Internet device!

Here are the features that the Nokia N900 has:

No doubt that the Nokia N900 is a very attractive Smartphone. It's understandably bulky considering what it pacls, it has a 110.9 x 59.8 x 18 mm body and 181 grams weight. The cover sleek and simple. It also has a very big screen perfect for viewing movies, video clips, camera perspective etc. It is 3.5 inches big and is a 16 Million Colour TFT Screen in 320 x 640 pixels resolution.

Calling and messaging capabilities
The Nokia N900 supports SMS (Text Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging). You can, of course, easily access your Emails and it's very easy too using Push Email. You can also send Emails with attachment.

It has Quad Band network connectivity, utilizing four frequencies in GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. Video calls is also smooth using HSDPA 2100 1700 and 900. This means the phone is great for roaming allowing you to have great connectivity even in between countries.

With it's fast processor and stable OS, multimedia for the Nokia N900 mobilephone is easy. It has a good sounding music player capable of playing MP3, WMA, WAV and eAAC+. It also has an FM Radio RDS, in which you can listen to whenever you feel bored. Other features are Music Display, Playlist and Volume Control.

You can just sit back and watch videos on its big touchscreen. The Video player supports MPEG4, WMV, XviD, AVI and Real support. These video files are common and therefore the Nokia N900 is all you need on multimedia entertainment.

The Nokia N900 isn't a focus on high megapixel camera's but it has great quality and fast too. It has a 5 Megapixel Camera that is a Carl Zeiss Lens and has Dual LED Flash and Autofocus. Even with a lower megapixel camera, the Nokia N900 can still beat those high powered camera phones in terms of picture quality.

For a Smartphone like the Nokia N900, Internet browsing is not a problem. With a 3G HSDPA, HSUPA, GPRS, WLAN WIFI and EDGE, these are excellent connectivity options that the Nokia N900 provides.

It has a pre-installed Maemo Browser, WAP XHTML and HTML. The Nokia N900 can also receive RSS Feeds.

The Nokia N900 has Bluetooth with A2DP and Micro USB; basic connectivity that you would need when transferring data from and to another device.

Memory availability becomes larger and larger by the minute and the Nokia N900 has a 32 GB Memory, 256 MB RAM and supports MicroSD Memory Card up to 16 GB. This is like a PC a decade back!

The Nokia N900 can last 9 Hours GSM Talk Time or 400 Hours Standby. That's a long time for a Smartphone.

In Closing

The Nokia N900 is certainly a good choice if you want a Smartphone. You can really make use of it's features like Document Viewer which supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF. It also has GPS Navigation and has A GPS Receiver. It uses Ovi Maps which is a very good visual for viewing Maps.
