The PlayStation 3 Gaming Console

By | Jan 4, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

When Sony was preparing to release the PlayStation 3 series it was going to be the best gaming console ever created. There were going to be new features never seen on a gaming console like the Blu-ray DVD playing capabilities. There were going to be upgradable hard drive disks so you could add more space and ultimately have a better gaming experience. The controllers were going to be Bluetooth wireless. The gaming console was even going to have backward playing capabilities. Everything talked about for the PlayStation 3 was going to make it exactly what Sony priced it at. Unfortunately as people played on the gaming console it didn't quite measure up. However, Sony has spent the last three years working to redevelop the PlayStation 3 into a gaming console worth the price tag.

Features Available on the Current PlayStation 3

Sony still did an amazing job in pushing forward their idea and creating an innovative gaming console when they integrated a Blu-ray DVD player into each PlayStation 3 console. That feature worked wonderfully and was a main reason many people continued to buy the newest PlayStation even when many of the other features hadn't worked according to plan. The Blu-ray DVD player is a great addition to your home because it means you don't have to replace your DVD player and all of your DVDs. You can keep your regular DVDs and still buy Blu-ray DVDs and play it on the PlayStation 3.

The Bluetooth wireless controllers were another feature that were readily received by gamers and continue to play a part in why many people are playing the PlayStation 3.

Additions like the upgradeable hard drive and HDMI connection are also features loved and which work well on the PlayStation 3. In addition the Wi-Fi connecting ability is a draw to many players who enjoy playing games with friends from around the world.

The one feature that was a bit of a disappointment was the backward playing feature. What this meant was the PlayStation 3 console was supposed to be compatible with the first two gaming consoles and would play those game titles as well, unfortunately Sony still hasn't made that completely possible. While it's still possible to play some of the titles from PlayStation 2 and the original PlayStation the system is not completely backward playing compatible.

However, don't let that deter you from buying a PlayStation 3 console. Sony completely made up for the lack of backward playing compatibility by lowering gaming console prices. Originally the PlayStation 3 was going for US$499 for the basic gaming console and the premium was US$599. Currently prices are more adequate with the 120GB hard drive console costing only US$299 and the 250GB hard drive console costing US$349.

Buying a PlayStation 3 is currently worth the price while they continue to develop features that may have lacked in the previous PlayStation 3 and other gaming consoles.
