The Price of Not Choosing to Eat Organic

By | Nov 15, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Organic foods have raised many arguments in past years but it is clear that consuming them has many benefits. Some may complain that the cost of organic foods is high and not worth the extra cost while many feel it is worth every penny. Of course there is more labor involved in the production of organic food and many more specialty markets and grocery stores are carrying more varieties of organic food products. You may pay a higher price for buying organic foods but the costs can be higher if no consideration is made toward improving the health of yourself and others such as family members.

Many conventional foods have pesticide residue that can be harmful to your health. Many people may not be bothered by the fact that many foods they consume can have small traces of pesticides but for those who are for a greener environment and are uncomfortable with the thought of such chemicals being used on their favorite foods see a greener side to organic products. It helps to think about how foods impact your health. Many studies have shown that eating organic foods can have a better impact on your health in the long run.

Conventional foods grown with pesticides and chemical tend to lessen nutritional values on produce. Fruits and vegetables contain needed nutrients and antioxidants that help our bodies function. When food is grown naturally it retains more natural nutrients making it beneficial not only to humans but to plants and animals. For humans pesticides have been linked to cancer and disease after long periods of time. Chemicals and hormones when used in animals affect the natural ability to fight off infection and illness.

Organically grown foods grown naturally help to enforce the balance of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals they provide. You don't have to completely eat all organic foods to get the most nutrition but it does help to learn more about organic foods available. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is a way to eat healthy but explore you options and become familiar with foods that are commonly contaminated with pesticide residues. If your budget allows it consider buying organic food products.
